I installed Ubuntu 16.04.1 about a week ago on a partition from my Windows 10 OS. Since then, I have been able to successfully use Grub to choose either windows or Ubuntu to boot. Just now, however, I restarted and the Grub menu didn't appear. The bios menu also did not appear. It then booted straight into Ubuntu. This happened after I tried to hard restart with the power button and the prompt appeared suggesting that I save files first. My files were all saved, but I exited out and saved them all anyways, and then shut down just from the actual software option. Settings seem to have changed as well. For example, my desktop is now stuck at 1024x768, while before I was at 1920x1080. The only ...

Hi!First off, let me say that I've searched in the forums (and the inteet) for this issue and had no luck solving it. Also, I have tried some other distros besides the one I have on the machine right now (Xubuntu 16.04) and it's all the same.The issue itself is that after I install the distro, or run the "try without installing" option, wifi stops working. Hi All,since there are media providers blocking data center IPs am no longer able to enjoy some services. I was a little bit upset, but then this idea hit me:I am still an owner of a VPS which I used as a VPN-Server/Gateway using PPTP. The idea is to set up Raspberry Pi which will be placed in a friends house and act like a gateway. (my friend has unfortunately a dynamic IP and does not agree to use any DynDNS services) I was thinking about creating a virtual adapter which will coect to my VPN-Server with a static IP on this Interface. I am setting up a system using xubuntu 16.04.01 LTS.It has a Startech HSB100SATBK 5.25" Trayless mobile rack for 3.5" HDD.It works fine when someone is logged in. The auto mount feature shows an icon on the users desktop for the drive.I can remove the drive, and the icon disappears. When I plug in another drive, it comes back, and the drive automatically mounts.What I am trying to do, is have the drive mount automatically, to a specific location, without any user logged on.That way, the drive can be swapped out without any need for a user to log onto the system, and the backup will run as a crontab.Has anyone been able to do this?Cheers!Naught McNoone Let's block ads! بخوانید...

I don't know if this is a Flashback issue or not, but I have this issue on all my Yakkety boxes, which have Flashback installed.When doing an update and clicking show details, UM will give you one line of download information and then 10-15 lines of terminal progress, unless you clicked show details after it downloaded all the files and were already installing them, you only get one line of terminal output. So I consider myself if not an uber computer geek at least a "power user", and tried to keep my dual boot setup of Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04 for as long as I could.
