[xubuntu] hot swap backup drive with no one logged on

ساخت وبلاگ

I am setting up a system using xubuntu 16.04.01 LTS.

It has a Startech HSB100SATBK 5.25" Trayless mobile rack for 3.5" HDD.

It works fine when someone is logged in. The auto mount feature shows an icon on the users desktop for the drive.
I can remove the drive, and the icon disappears. When I plug in another drive, it comes back, and the drive automatically mounts.

What I am trying to do, is have the drive mount automatically, to a specific location, without any user logged on.
That way, the drive can be swapped out without any need for a user to log onto the system, and the backup will run as a crontab.

Has anyone been able to do this?

Cheers!
