HiI have to buy a replacement laptop and have been looking at the Ubuntu Certified Hardware page.My priorities are:I don't mind if Ubuntu is pre-installed but whether it is or not I want to be able to load different linux OS from scratch, on separate partitions, so I can compare them. I have some experience in installing dual boot systems.I want SSD drive. Minimum 128GB. I could install myself but prefer not to.14” screenBudget £500I have narrowed my search down toDell Latitude 3470 cost £390: Dell wireless card, Intel graphics, 128 SSDLenovo Thinkpad 13 cost £530: Intel wireless and graphics. Another forum member posted a thread about TPM passthrough and its been something I've been meaning to do for a while. Qemu 2.5 has a bug that prevents a Windows guest from loading the TPM driver, this is patched from qemu 2.6 onwards so I've got qemu 2.6.1 in my build chain and am running the guest on the cmd line. Windows now reports my TPM in Device Manager under Security Devices but the Bitlocker app says no compatible TPM can be found :-/ The TPM is most definitely bitlocker compatible as if I boot Win10 on the same bare metal then everything works so this is a virt issue somewhere, and I'd hazard a guess to say its Windows guest specific as I believe passing the same device through to a linux guest works as I got output from tpm_nvinfo in my test linux guest.Has anyone seen this before? Sorry if this has been asked before but... I keep reading that the app selection for Ubuntu Phone & Tablet doesn't compare to Android and iOS.Not a problem since I use one or two android apps at most; but then I also read that Ubuntu's Mobile OS can't run most of the software in the Ubuntu Repository? Am I understanding that correctly? For instance, I can't download LibreOffice or Calibre on an Ubuntu Tablet or Phone?Am I missing something?Edit: Meant to write 'Can it run Apps from the Repository?' Hi everyone,I've been using ubuntu for a while but am still more or less a total beginner.I recently ugraded to 16.04.Before the upgrade my Ugee M1000L graphics tablet worked fine just by plugging it in.After the upgrade something strange happened. I could still use it to write (un limnu.com if that matters) but it didn't show the cursor so I ended up writing on top of things I had already written.After a quick google I founddigimend-dkms_6_all.debI downloaded it and installed it through the software centre.Now the tablet doesn't work at all. Hi there,we have computer pools where about 1000 users can login. On a maschine is openSuse and Ubuntu installed. The users choose over the boot manager, which system to start. The home directory from each user is on a nfs-file-system. So does'nt matter, which OS the user starts, the home directory is the same in openSuse and ubuntu.There is a strange problem with the .dmrc file. When a user was logged in in openSuse and then tries to login into ubuntu, the login does'nt work. There is no error message at all, it just behaves like the user entered the wrong password.After the user deleted his .dmrc file, the login works again.Only ubuntu has problems with the .dmrc file, when the user was logged in in openSuse before. openSuse has no problems, when the user was logged in in ubuntu.We checked the content of the .dmrc file, the rights, we couldn't find something strange. It's also not easy to reproduce, there are a lot of users, where this problem does'nt happen. Hey guys long time user of Ubuntu desktop, recently I have decided to go the mobile I was wondering a few things.1: Is Ubuntu touch stable enough for use as a daily phone?2: I might get a nexus 4 because I read its pretty compatible however the phone is a bit dated and I was wondering if you guys thought it would hold up in 20163: if I wanted a tablet experience is the nexus 7 my old option? I see the BQ store is sold out of anything worth my time and they want to charge me euro tax (20%) on my USD purchase.Please if anybody has experience with Ubuntu Touch I would like to know if there is anything I should look out for.Thank you in advance.
