I am having this issue on a System76 Ratel, new this spring, running a 6th generation i5-6500 3.2GHz CPU, a Samsung 850 SSD, and the optional NVIDIA GeForce GT730 video subsystem. I updated to 16.04 about a month after it came out, with no issues.Recently while doing updates, I get the following message: Code: W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/kbl_dmc_ver1.bin for module i915_bpo This shows up on the terminal window that reflects your update progress. Each time it occurs, a lo-o-o-ong wait ensues, after which the update finally seems to complete. It runs normally otherwise. If I run Software Updater again, it just says that software is up to date - no error.This hasn't actually prevented updating yet, but it has occurred several times. It would seem to be saying that firmware is missing for the CPU. Yet the computer runs just fine.Has anyone else run into this, and if it is a problem is there a fix? Thanks! Hi, I just updated from Kubuntu 14.04 to 16.04. I have some intermittent screen flickering that I'm trying to track down. It's an Intel Ivy Bridge desktop.Every so often, when I switch applications or move the cursor from one display to the other, one of the displays flickers briefly. (I have 2x LG 1920x1080 LCDs.) It doesn't happen every time, but I notice it most often when moving from one display to the other. Occasionally it happens when switching applications, etc. within one display. I can readily reproduce it by moving the cursor back and forth rapidly between the two displays.When a display flickers, it either briefly tus black for ~1 frame, or the screen jumps ~15 pixels to the right for ~1 frame.I searched around, but I couldn't find anything that seemed similar to my problem - there are plenty of "flickering issues" mentioning the i915 driver, but everything I found seemed too old or too different. Sorry if this has been asked before but... I keep reading that the app selection for Ubuntu Phone & Tablet doesn't compare to Android and iOS.Not a problem since I use one or two android apps at most; but then I also read that Ubuntu's Mobile OS can't run most of the software in the Ubuntu Repository? Am I understanding that correctly? Tried fiddling with BIOS setting's, tried making the Bootable USB with different USB creator's, tried re-naming syslinux to isolinux on the USB and vice versa, tried multiple distro's.Once server goes through POST and tries to boot from USB... I have had an unstable wi-fi for a long now, but just found out it's the Intel Wireless 7260 card causing this.What I mean is that the wi-fi will drop randomly, and only rebooting fixes it (temporarily until it drops again).I tried plugging an exteal wi-fi card and it worked perfectly.How can I fix this issue with my laptop's wifi card? Hi everyone,I've been using ubuntu for a while but am still more or less a total beginner.I recently ugraded to 16.04.Before the upgrade my Ugee M1000L graphics tablet worked fine just by plugging it in.After the upgrade something strange happened. I could still use it to write (un limnu.com if that matters) but it didn't show the cursor so I ended up writing on top of things I had already written.After a quick google I founddigimend-dkms_6_all.debI downloaded it and installed it through the software centre.Now the tablet doesn't work at all. Hey there,I have been having some issues with my desktop computer running Ubuntu 14.04 for a while and I am not sure what is causing this issue.My computer is connected to a FullHD Medion display via VGA.Whenever I boot the computer for the first time the maximum possible screen resolution is 1366x768 or 1024x768 (not sure right now, but it is always the same), which makes everything very difficult to read. If I then shutdown the computer (not reboot), wait for a second and boot again, the correct resolution of 1920x1080 is possible. A regular reboot does not help. When the issue occurs there seems to be no difference in the hardware detected, however xrandr does also not allow a higher resolution. If trying to add a new modeline the screen simply goes black. The only difference I could determine so far is the display showing as "Unknown monitor" when the issue appears and as "Messelektronik Dresden GmbH 23"" when the issue does not appear.The broken resolution also affects the BIOS boot logo.I disabled SecureBoot in the BIOS since I read somewhere this was causing issues, but it did not help.Is this some kind of hardware issue? If so, what component should I replace and why does it only occur on first boot? My mainboard does not have a DVI or HDMI connector so I cannot use a different cable type to connect the monitor. Or maybe something is setting the graphics adapter to a different mode causing the issue?I am not sure if this might have something to do with it but when I shutdown the computer I tu off the power via a switch on the power strip afterwards.Please help me!Henne Let's block ads! بخوانید, ...ادامه مطلب

Can anyone give me some advice on how to optimise the wifi for my system (ubuntu 16.04, Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260)?I have an ac adapter / router and yet the wifi connection is very slow (slower than non-ubuntu systems connectiving via wifi to the same network).Results of wireless-info attached.As a workaround, I am currently using etheet and both the etheet and wifi were connected whilst wireless-info was run, but normally I'll only use the one or the other.Thanks very much for any help. Using ubuntu 16.04 with keel 4.4.0.31 generic. wifi often stops working or simply shows no networks in network mnager. from time to time the up and down arrows are display in the network manager, even with no network cable connected.
