Hello, I am setting up Kubuntu on my laptop and I ran into a few issues with Plank which I can't find any solutions for:1) My icon theme (Numix Circle) doesn't show work on the Plank icons, instead the icons for apps pied to the dock are just the default ones.2) When I try to put the trash docklet on the dock it's invisible.3) I can't pin system activity to the dock as the option just doesn't show up.Any help would be greatly appreciated. So far setting up yakkety on my 2011 15" macbook pro has been easier than it was with 16.04 with one minor caveat. Xubuntu already recognizes both my integrated intel and discrete nvidia cards, but so far only uses the Intel card(xorg proprietary driver). I am trying to set up switching between both cards but when i install the nvidia current, i believe its 367, the screen doesn't display after reboot (on with nothing to display). I have also tried the other drivers listed in "additional drivers" with no luck. I am aware that there were previous workarounds that involved editing grub, but I don't think I fall into that category since xubuntu is already recognizing both cards. Also I had inst...

New computer, with a Nvidia Quadro M4000 card, and came with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS loaded.The default driver was Nouveau. I'm certain that I've correctly disabled it, because now ruing 'lshw -c video' shows me that there is no driver! In fact, I can't get past the login screen. When I login, it just crashes back to the login screen.I was (finally) able to figure out how to stop lightdm from the tty console. I then ran the nvidia driver installer. It complained A LOT. I installed Xubuntu 16.04 in dual boot with Windows 10 without problems. Hi all,I'm getting an instant black screen and no sign of further life immediately after Grub.I installed Ubuntu Server 14.04 onto a Samsung 840 SSD with LVM and everything seemed to be fine. I set up my 4 2tb drives as a mdadm RAID array with LVM on top. I installed Kodi. I left the machine on for a few days while the RAID was set up and then copied my files on to it. Everything seemed fine.Then I try to reboot it. I get to the Grub screen. I choose "Ubuntu". Instant black screen with no further response. The automatic updates to Samba that were provided on 18 April 2016 apparently clobber some of the functionality of gvfs. In particular, the functionality reverts to one in which when trying to coect to a particular CIFS/SMB share using gvfs (no matter how it is done), the resulting behavior is one that asks for the password, but doesn't act on it correctly, then repeatedly asks again for the password. I found this because I use gigolo to automatically log in to a CIFS/SMB share at login time and, not only did it not log in correctly, but repeatedly asked for my password again. At first I thought it was a virus, but determined that it was a "feature" of the gvfs logging process. It's the same...

I have an Acer aspire laptop and I've already gone to bios and changed to legacy UEFI and made booting from DVD/CD first priority.I installed ubuntu desktop 14.04 64bit with LVM and encryption which I am considering to have been a bad choice because I'm having a lot of problems restarting/booting the computer and I have to discoect any usb devices during booting and it always takes me to the grub2 menu and if I simply choose to boot Ubuntu then it gets stuck on a black screen. So yesterday I encountered an unusual error that caused Ubuntu to not load my settings upon startup. My launcher starts with the default app loadout (Firefox, Amazon, etc.), workspace and wallpaper settings aren't saved, and other programs like gedit don't retain my preferences like they used to.
