Hi Community:I upgraded my wife's laptop from 14.04 to 16.04 today.She has an exteal 24" monitor, and I set it up with the "Displays" on "System Settings."I was successful in getting 16.04 to detect the 24" monitor.However, the mouse cursor wonders from the 24" monitor to the laptop monitor. Good evening forum, I just purchased the Asus 2 in 1 13.3 Touchscreen Intel Core i3 6gb Memory 500GB Hard Drive-Black Hairline Laptop and I want to dual boot Windows 10 with Ubuntu. I have done this for years but this is my first (I Think you call it) UEFI and I have seen videos of installations and they all are confusing. I have Ubuntu on a flashdrive already and I used Unetbootin.Question 1. Is using Unetbootin ok or do I have to use something else?Question 2. I've tried installing Ubuntu a few times now and have been trying to move away from windows all together. I've ran into difficulty with my main laptop each time. It came equipped with two video cars, a Intel HD graphics 4600, and a Nvidia gtx 860M.The display always works find however gaming is always problematic. I installed an app that allowed me to manually select which video card I was using, however when selecting the nvidia I discovered the system was always using the Intel card. I don't game often but since I have the nvidia card, I'd like to use it when I want to. I was wondering if the latest versions of Ubuntu have improved on this and made the installation of a dual video card sys...

I'm using Xubuntu 16.04 and Chrome 51 on two different notebooks, and I'm having the same problem on both. When I scroll using the touchpad, Chrome exhibits "smooth scrolling" behavior. This is a nice feature in theory, except that it causes quite a bit of lag - "jank" in browser terms. Overall responsiveness is reduced, and pages continue to scroll (slowly) after I take my finger off the touchpad. This is most pronounced on my Atom-based netbook, but it's noticeable on my Core i5 daily driver as well. I have smooth scrolling disabled in chrome://flags, so I'm guessing the smoothing is being done at the driver level. If I use a USB mouse or grab the scroll bar manually, this problem goes awa...

Hi,I'm from Germany. I installed a friend of mine Lubuntu on his laptop and with the latest upgrade the whole system stopped working. He is visiting Princeton from abroad and has absolutely no idea about computers and is totally struck. All his work idling. The Princeton library told him that I should send a copy of this operating system to him with instructions on how to upgrade. That's a joke. The local Linux user group doesn't answer emails and I can't help without seeing what's going on. Hello Folks,I have started using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS as a persistent Live USB using an encrypted Apricon Aegis Padlock HDD. It works great on my MacBook with no issues except when I switch to nVidia proprietary graphics driver.So my first question is has anyone else seen this issue while installing nvidia graphic driver on a LiveUSB ?Secondly, when I boot the same HDD on my HP Pavillion Laptop and coect it to an exteal monitor, it put my usb to sleep as soon as I tu down the laptop lid and in tu I can't use the OS anymore. I have moved back from OSX on laptops (always had linux on a server since 2003) and I am currently ruing Xubuntu 16.04 and Win10 on a Lenovo Ideapad 300 15ISK Model # 80Q7. I also have Xubuntu 16.04 ruing on an HP Stream 14".The Lenovo is way more powerful, but has a HDD so although orders of magnitude more storage it is very slow to start, slow for to start apps compared to the HP Stream.
