Hallo Everyone,Today I installed Lubuntu 16.04 (64bit) on my netbook but during boot the system hangs on the message quoted in the title. The strange thing is that, if I boot on recovery mode, everything comes up fine. Indeed, under recovery mode I was able to run an update (in the hope that this would fix the problem) but I still have it.I also thought that maybe this is just a file/disk-scan and I just need to wait for it to finish but there doesn't seem to be any disk activity.Does anyone have a tip for me? Or should I maybe continue to boot in recovery mode until a fix is supplied? Many thanks,Alan SearleCologne, Germany Let's block ads! بخوانید...

ادامه مطلبHello Everyone,Introi know, there are at least 1000 posts and questions and at least 12 bug reports at Ubuntu regarding nearly the same problem, but none of them are working (and to be honest are not 100% as my problem)ProblemI freshly installed ubuntu 16.04 via a live-usb stick. As expected, the usb starts smoothly i run the setup as I always did since I'm using ubuntu and no problems happend. Restart to fresh ubuntu results in: Code: Check root=bootarg cat /proc/cmdline or missing modules, devices: cat /proc/modules ls /dev Alert! /dev/disk/by-uuid/xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx$ does not exist. Dropping to a shell! first thing i checked was Code: ls /dev which resulted in no folder "/dev/disk" and...

ادامه مطلبHello all,I would greatly appreciate any help with this issue. My computer was acting up today, so I rebooted it, and when it came back, all of my network devices are unclaimed. From what I understand this is because there is no driver for it, which I really don't understand how that can happen all of a sudden. The thing is that I don't know how to go about acquiring the driver and how to install it again. I obviously have no inteet, so I can't use apt. I also don't know which driver to use anymore. I've attached a screen shot of the output for lshw -C network. Please let me know if there is anything else you need to see. I'm using ubuntu 14.04.1Thanks for any helpScreen shot is here: http:/...

ادامه مطلبI had been dual booting Windows 8 (preinstalled) and Linux Mint on my laptop for about half a year. I recently wanted to install Xubuntu on it. When I plug in my flash drive and try to boot from it (by pressing F-10 on startup) the device selection menu shows "ubuntu" as the only device. I have tried the flash drive in other computers and it works perfectly well. The BIOS ("Phoenix SecureCore") also lists "ubuntu" as the only device in the boot order dialogue, however, it does detect the harddrive and the disk drive in the computer (visible in the default dialogue).I have tried resetting the BIOS (from the options from the BIOS), ruing testdisk (which revealed cluster mismatches and bad secto...

ادامه مطلبHello! I'm ruing Ubuntu Desktop 15.10I've been in trouble since I installed pavucontrol (I think). I don't remember tweaking anything, but I don't know. It just stopped working. My last question was discussed here, about problems configuring the output: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2317782One day I realized that when I went to the Config menu -> Sound, there were no output devices. It is only showing "Clumsy output" (Free translation from Spanish "Salida para torpes").I searched across the web for a solution, and after a while the only thing that worked was to uninstall pulseaudio and alsamixer, and then installing again. Then, the three output devices I had were appearing. This w...
ادامه مطلبI own a GB USB Smart Card from EMS. It's basically used for putting Game Boy ROMs on and loading into a real Game Boy. The software required is Windows only, so I run XP in a VM (virtualbox). It all works fine.Sometimes, the software ruing in the VM reports an error part way through transferring ROMs and says the device is discoected. VirtualBox does not see that the device is coected, and neither does the command lsusb. When this happens, I have to restart Ubuntu to make it work again. This is quite aoying and may damage the card, making it unusable. If anyone knows why this has happened, and how to make it not happen, or even how to recoect the card without having to reboot, help would be g...

ادامه مطلبI decided to install Lubuntu 14.04 LTS on a Toshiba Satellite laptop with DVD-RW (image: lubuntu-14.04.4-desktop-amd64.iso). Install went OK, but when I restarted the computer, it ended up in black screen saying: "Reboot and select proper boot device". I couldn't do anything.I changed the boot order that HDD is first, but it didn't help. After that I decided to reinstall Lubuntu, but that didn't have any effect either. In BIOS there's UEFI/CSM options, and UEFI has been on. Secure Boot has been all the time disabled. Here's the info from boot-info: https://paste.ubuntu.com/15501481/Any ideas how to proceed?
