Greetings.I'm trying to use a Mediasonic Probox HF2-SU3S2 drive enclosure with Linux software RAID via mdadm. I have installed 4 drives in the enclosure, with two of the drives (2 TB each) I'm trying to configure as RAID1. The enclosure is coected to my system via USB 3.0. Initially I can see the two drives as /dev/sdb and /dev/sdd. When I do the command to create the RAID the enclosure appears to reset (all the panel lights start flashing, and when the enclosure comes back online the drive designations have changed. Here's a look at what I'm doing:tom@topcat:~$ lsblkNAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINTsda 8:0 0 698.7G 0 disk├─sda1 8:1 0 694.9G 0 part /├─sda2 8:2 0 1K 0 part└─sda5 8:5 0 3....
ادامه مطلبHi everyone I used to post (a while back) as karimabunuh, or karimruan I honestly cant remember.I am a huge elder scrolls fan, though I admit to having only played Arena, daggerfall and morrowind. I mucked around with oblivion and skyrim a bit, but felt they really stripped the RPG elements out of them. Anyway, I also looooove text based games: roguelikes, text adventures, muds.... etc.I have started a project called TES Adventures, a play on The Elder Scrolls and text adventure. But I didn't need to tell you that. I guess I also looooove saying uecessary things. I am writing it in Python 2.7I honestly dont have a lot of time, but I would love to get a few people willing to contribute at lea...
ادامه مطلبI'm ruing 15.10 on a Yoga 900 convertible with the 4.5 stock keel, and most things work in one way or another except detecting whether it's in laptop or tablet mode. I've looked through the keel logs and check the devices detected by the ACPI subsystem, and found that PNP0C60 isn't detected. Actually, none of the PNP0Cxx values above xx=14 are detected.I've had no success reassembling the DSDT yet, so I'm hoping someone has another idea what I can try? Is there a way to manipulate object in the ACPI namespace to at least query the state? Let's block ads! بخوانید...

ادامه مطلبThread moved to the MINT sub-forum.If you are getting a "no such file or directory" message, than the system is telling you what the problem is. Where did you download the boot script file from, and where did you find the instructions for the boot script? Did you extract it from the downloaded tar.gz file? What is the filename of the extracted script file?If you follow the directions on this page: http://bootinfoscript.sourceforge.net/ - you'll see that the filename of the extracted script file from there is bootinfoscript, so if you try to run something that corresponds with "/boot_info_script*.sh" you will indeed get an error - if you downloaded from there. I've downloaded the tar.gz from ...

ادامه مطلبI've installed Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 beta on a brand new laptop because I couldn't get 15.10 live cd to boot on it no matter what I did.16.04 booted (with nomodeset) and installed just fine. It also asked me to disable Secure Boot, so that proprietary drivers could run, which I did.My previous (and now dead) laptop used Nvidia's Optimus, too, so I know how to handle most of the problems that come with it. However, the problem I'm getting with 16.04 is completely different and I'm not even sure if this is the right forum to ask for help.Whenever I boot Ubuntu Gnome, I get a black screen. I read through all the logs and it seems that this time the problem is not with the x server, but with the pr...
ادامه مطلبHowdy,I'll start this by saying I'm an ubuntu novice. I know the basics of linux use, installing packages, where to find config files, etc. I bought the (now older) Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition in order to have a machine that shouldn't be as problematic as any random laptop. I knew going into this that it wasn't going to be perfect and probably end up being an insightful hobby - being forced to fix my machine vs just spiing up a new VM when things break. All that being said - I had a couple minor issues out of the box. (I'm just giving some background to the current issues... skim down a bit if you want to get straight into my current problem)On initial setup, I tried to make a recovery USB,...

I had everything in place, but when i did a SMC reset, the fancontrol was gone, macfanctl was not working.I see that there is no applesmc folder in /sys/devices/platform. I need to create a folder called "applesmc.768" at this location. I looked around and I can't find it how to do it. I may be going in a very bad direction, by trying to do something that I'm not supposed to do like editing contents of sys folder ( I know that this is sort a virtual space). But, if it's possible lemme know.If there are other ways to fix the fan issue, then I would really appreciate that as well. I'm ruing Ubuntu 14.04 in Mactel 4,1. Thank you. This entry passed ...
