I just switched from IPS237L-BN (1920×1080) to new Dell P2416D (2560x1440) monitors in a dual setup. And I have the following problem. I get a a message on my monitors stating:"The current input timing is not supported by the monitor. Please change your input timing to 2560×1440, 60Hz or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specifications." Effectively I don't see my boot/bios screen or any tty's. So the xorg issue with the pointer disappearing has been solved and that is absolutely great!However, I still seem to have a problem with light locker. After suspend, locking the screen or logging out, I see my wallpaper for a second or so, then there is a glitch and tus to the default light blue background. When I change the user to Guest and then back to my account, my wallpaper appears and stays for good.Any ideas as to what might be causing this and/or how to fix it? Let's block ads! بخوانید...

Hi!First off, let me say that I've searched in the forums (and the inteet) for this issue and had no luck solving it. Also, I have tried some other distros besides the one I have on the machine right now (Xubuntu 16.04) and it's all the same.The issue itself is that after I install the distro, or run the "try without installing" option, wifi stops working. Hi,after the update to ubuntu 16.04, my laptop (Samsung NP305E5A) boots to a black screen. The boot process continues since it is obviously reading from the hard drive and also playing the drums sound for the login-window after a while. However, the screen remains black from right after the grub-screen is gone and stays like that. Ctrl+Alt+F2 also does not take me to a usable command line. I found no way for the screen to show anything.However, I did find something one might call a workaround. I am setting up a system using xubuntu 16.04.01 LTS.It has a Startech HSB100SATBK 5.25" Trayless mobile rack for 3.5" HDD.It works fine when someone is logged in. The auto mount feature shows an icon on the users desktop for the drive.I can remove the drive, and the icon disappears. When I plug in another drive, it comes back, and the drive automatically mounts.What I am trying to do, is have the drive mount automatically, to a specific location, without any user logged on.That way, the drive can be swapped out without any need for a user to log onto the system, and the backup will run as a crontab.Has anyone been able to do this?Cheers!Naught McNoone Let's block ads! بخوانید...

Came back to linux because I'm tired of Windows. Ruing into a few issues however. I have a Dell Inspiron 7348, which dell sells with Ubuntu.First, my mouse icons disspears after I recover from sleep. I read this may have something to do with a gnome daemon, I checked and didn't see it. Any idea's here?I have the proprietary Intel video drivers installed, at least I think I do.Also, something I'm not used too, is the jumping. It's so sensitive! I caot find way to reduce the, or even configure the sensitivity, or some sort of palm detection.Lastly, at least so far is the keyboard. Non of my built-in keys like volume etc work. Another forum member posted a thread about TPM passthrough and its been something I've been meaning to do for a while. Qemu 2.5 has a bug that prevents a Windows guest from loading the TPM driver, this is patched from qemu 2.6 onwards so I've got qemu 2.6.1 in my build chain and am ruing the guest on the cmd line. Windows now reports my TPM in Device Manager under Security Devices but the Bitlocker app says no compatible TPM can be found :-/ The TPM is most definitely bitlocker compatible as if I boot Win10 on the same bare metal then everything works so this is a virt issue somewhere, and I'd hazard a guess to say its Windows guest specific as I believe passing the same device through to a ...

I agree with the recommendation to have separate home partitions for each of the installed systems. (You can also have /home as directories inside the root directories.)If you want to share personal files (documents, music, multimedia files) I suggest that you have a separate data partition. When you have Windows alongside linux, it is a good idea to use the file system NTFS in the data partition to make it available for both linux and Windows. Otherwise you should use a linux file system (for example ext4).(Linux can also read and write the Windows [system] partition, but it is risky, it is better to have a separate data partition.) I've installed Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04 (also tried Xubuntu 16.04/14.04) on my brand new laptop i5 6200u/8gb/gt940m/240gb. I have problem with ubuntu performance, which doesn't occur on windows, where everything i've tried works just fine. On ubuntu I feel lagging when just typing - e. g. in codeblocks or in chromium.In gtkperf i receive very different results - once it's like 2,5s and next time 20-30s (!).I tried reinstalling ubuntu couple of times, with swap and without it. Also on empty ssd - with no effect at all.
