I am an English speaker who often writes in Japanese to friends, etc. I am finding that my Lubuntu 16.04.1 LTS install has a weird bug that's frustrating the hell out of me: it doesn't seem to remember my switching the input method from the default, "none," to fcixt or ibus. Nearly all the instructions I can find online say "Go to Preferences, Language Support, and choose either ibus or fcixt, logout, then log back in."But when I do that, the same "none" is back, always preselected. Any settings I change require relogging in...which means they vanish.I can see the nice input window sitting there. But it just doesn't DO anything...I hit "cntl-space" and it appears or disappears, but never all...

Hi,I just installed Ubuntu on an old MacBook(mid-2010). The trackpad was a pain so I searched around and found out about mtrack. I have it installed and have it configured so it works how I want. However, I have no right click capabilities and I can't figure out how to set that up. I've tried googling but it seems largely about double-clicking for right or using two fingers. What I want is the bottom right coer of the trackpad to act as a right click on click( or tap ).The problem is I don't really know what the options in the configuration file mean. I've just been trial/erroring. Again, googling for that information just results in a lot of threads from different forums where people have p...

While searching I did find other people with mouse problem but not the same problem. Majority of the posts I found had involved a laptop and/or touch pad, and the rest seem to be about virtualization. I have a desktop and a normal mouse, and I was ruing the live CD. My intent is to setup a dual boot system. Also, I don't understand quite how I would fix it. I had to hard reset because the mouse is also clicking by itself.Anyone can shed light on what the issue is? And how do I fix it ( I mean the process, with the mouse acting all fuy)?-Thanks Let's block ads! بخوانید...

Currently have Xubuntu 16.04 Thunar set up so that middle-click opens folders in a new Thunar window. However, middle-clicking on the Back, Forward, or Up toolbar buttons does nothing; and middle-clicking the items in the Go menu behaves exactly as if I left-clicked them. How to get middle-clicking the Back/Forward/Up toolbar buttons, and items in the Go menu, to open the destination folder in a new Thunar window, same as middle-clicking folders? Hello!I have a very strange behavior happening when the PC is unlocked after a period of time. What will happen is I am not able to click on any open application, I can't interact with it, close it, minimize it. I can select apps from the unity launcher and even new instances of application exhibit the same whereas they become un-clickable. What I have to do is log out and then log back in. There has to be something really quirky going on and I don't know where to start looking for it.I've included a link to my PC's system information if there is anything in question there.https://drive.google.com/open?id=1zK...noefkP8q15BgPQThanks in advance for taking a look.Dave This entry passed through ...

First of all, it's not a misspelling. It's "input not support". I have an AOC monitor, and an ASUS STRIX 1070.I create the bootable usb stick in win10, reboot, and when I press "Install Ubuntu" then it just goes black screen with a floating "input not supported". I had ubuntu before (before having the VGA), same version (16.04), and everything worked just fine. What can I do? Greetings,I have an audio device that ALSA interprets as only accepting a 32-bit little-endian data format. And I would like to play "normal" 16-bit music to that device. To add one extra wrinkle: I am fairly certain this device is a 24-bit audio device. It's the miniDSP usbstreamer B unit, and the product webpage describes it as 24-bit (with 32-bit inteal processor). Is there a quick and effective way to convert the music on-the-fly, i.e. like when I call mplayer on the audio file? Ideally it would be something that could be put into the /var/lib/alsa/asound.conf file. Barring that, I want to drive this usb audio device by MPD, so if this could be done in the mpd config file, great. In case y...

I am using 16.04 and have a Polaroid wireless mouse, which has worked perfectly until I rebooted my laptop about fifteen minutes ago. When it started back up, my mouse buttons were the wrong way around (as a leftie, the first thing I do when I install a new system is to change the buttons so that the right side is the primary button).I've tried going into Mouse settings, and no matter whether I click 'left' or 'right', the mouse stays the same. I've tried creating an 'Xmodmap' file in my Home folder and putting in a 'pointer 3 2 1' line, and it stays the same. Can anyone help, please? It's driving me mad! Let's block ads! بخوانید...
