I am an English speaker who often writes in Japanese to friends, etc. I am finding that my Lubuntu 16.04.1 LTS install has a weird bug that's frustrating the hell out of me: it doesn't seem to remember my switching the input method from the default, "none," to fcixt or ibus. Nearly all the instructions I can find online say "Go to Preferences, Language Support, and choose either ibus or fcixt, logout, then log back in."But when I do that, the same "none" is back, always preselected. Any settings I change require relogging in...which means they vanish.I can see the nice input window sitting there. But it just doesn't DO anything...I hit "cntl-space" and it appears or disappears, but never allows me the option to write anything but English/romaji.Anyone know what's causing this?Thank you! I'm often running a simultaneous VNC window alongside a regular native X session. From time to time, and with no rhyme or reason that I can detect, my X window session hangs, producing a black screen. The keyboard isn't frozen (I can see the caps-lock go on), but hitting Alt-F4 or Cntl-Alt-F4 doesn't bring me to a terminal.I'm talking about weeks or months...it's not common!The odd thing is that my VNC session still is fine, and I can access everything fine. But to get back to a working X session, I've had to always close everything out and hard power down the computer. Hi!I am completely new to ubuntu and so far my friends help me to get it installed and helped me to get started with it.My laptop runs both windows 10 and ubuntu 16.04 and my wifi works fine with I use windows, yet I can't even access wifi networks with ubuntu (I have added images to make illustrate what I mean).Yesterday, I had access to wifi with ubuntu, but it didn't work when when I suspended my session and logged in again. So I ask my friend to help me fix this problem, but now I the situation is even worse (as I described in the last sentence).I have a RTL8723BE wireless network adapter.As i have mentioned I am completely lost and I have absolutely no idea what to do since I am on my own. Hi!First off, let me say that I've searched in the forums (and the inteet) for this issue and had no luck solving it. Also, I have tried some other distros besides the one I have on the machine right now (Xubuntu 16.04) and it's all the same.The issue itself is that after I install the distro, or run the "try without installing" option, wifi stops working. Hello Members!I preferred installing Ubuntu(latest version) alongside Windows 8. Installation went through successfully but the System-Restart(as per the last prompt) has left me with the Windows Installation only, & Ubuntu is visible nowhere!I remember seeing message during this Reboot which said--"Press any Key to skip Disk checking"....& then it went on to repair my Recovery Drive to 100%!No trace of Ubuntu's installation or the Boot-menu (offering the choice b/w Windows & Ubuntu) are visible!?However, Yes, Ubuntu's installation has indeed usurped my Free-Disk space to the tune of 250 GB, & as a consequence---Windows partition can be seen as reduced significantly!Kindly help me set the things in order from here on....Yours cooperation will be sincerely appreciated.Thank you. Hallo Everyone,I am trying to install a Canon Pixma MG5750 for a friend and have discovered a strange thing ...We both have identical installations of Lubuntu (I installed for him) but my installation contains the driver for this printer but his does not.My suspicion is that, at some time, I have installed a bundle of "extra printers".Does such a thing exist? I am setting up a system using xubuntu 16.04.01 LTS.It has a Startech HSB100SATBK 5.25" Trayless mobile rack for 3.5" HDD.It works fine when someone is logged in. The auto mount feature shows an icon on the users desktop for the drive.I can remove the drive, and the icon disappears. When I plug in another drive, it comes back, and the drive automatically mounts.What I am trying to do, is have the drive mount automatically, to a specific location, without any user logged on.That way, the drive can be swapped out without any need for a user to log onto the system, and the backup will run as a crontab.Has anyone been able to do this?Cheers!Naught McNoone Let's block ads! بخوانید, ...ادامه مطلب
