Hi! I use Ubuntu 16.04 (Unity) on my Dell Inspiron-20-Model-3043 (touch screen). My problem is that the lock screen (ctrl + alt + L) changed to the old style like the one in Ubuntu 10.10, and I don't know why exactly, I don't remember have done anything in particular.maybe it changed after the installation of Unity 8 mir but I didn't notice it until 3 days later so I'm not sure. Something curious is that the login screen works perfectlyThese are the commands I tried until now:sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdmsudo service lightdm restartsudo lightdmBut nothing works, and actually I'm not sure if LightDM controls also the lock screen or only the login screen Let's block ads! بخوانید...

I had install lubuntu into an old laptop and all works fine.Happens that i want to add Lumina Desktop as i think it is what LXDE should have been, and, given that the BSD developers only offers it for 64 bit systems, i had to pull the sources and the dependences and build it in my own.The Lumina website, at https://lumina-desktop.org/get-lumina/?lang=en , tells this:"Building Lumina from source on Debian/Ubuntu/Linux MintTo build the Lumian desktop from source code on any members of the Debian, Ubuntu or Linux Mint distribution (or their derivative distributions) please perform the following steps. Please note that older versions of Ubuntu (14.04 and earlier) do not ship with mode versions of...

I want to move my LVM based VMs from my old KVM server to my new KVM server. What is "the way"?I have:KVM ruing on Ubuntu 12.04 - old systemwith 5 VMs on LVM partition at /dev/sd3/vgroup/all references to VMs in /dev/sd3/vgroup/ are actually symlinks to ../dm-1-5KVM ruing on Ubuntu 16.04 - new systemwith 1 vm, deb8, as a testit also has the same structure /dev/sd4/vgroup/deb8deb8 is a link to ../dm-0a backup script that weekly stops each vm on old system and dd to a gzipped copyIf I unzip a copy of my backed-up vm on the new KVM box, and dd it to /dev/vgroup/testdata it copies the vm file and does not create the magic link to /dev/vgroup/testdata (which, I assume, should link to ../dm-1). I tried to switch to Ubuntu a few months ago and downloaded it from somewhere, I did not realize at that time that Ubuntu had a dedicated website. I downloaded some Ubuntu 12 or something and was able to get it installed and working but never could get it to work right and then was unable to figure out how to get it off of my computer. It was a tad vexing, but I eventually figured it out, I have been using that as a means of partitioning and working with hard drives ever since, some handy features in there. In the mean time I reinstalled windows 8 on my laptop, which it came with but some of the drivers would not install properly, it took some time but after 6 installations and going every tr...

Hi,i have on my laptop Kubuntu since v14.04 and upgrade it to v16.04.Under ubuntu 14.04 and later 15.10 i had the standard saving energy tool for laptops and my computer was very quite and sometimes fan run high do to workload (which was normal).Since i upgrade it to 16.04, my CPU or Graphic fan runs at 100% (it seems at least based on the noise level) even if i do nothing and that laptop is on login screen.my CPU range is about 68C to 83-84C degrees max.For an unknown reason FAN runs at max and i dislike it especially when i do not require anything from it.Some people told me that room where i was was hot or that it is normal in summer.... the problem is that even in a room at 20C degrees i...

My school has given us chromebooks to use for the year, however gotten trigger happy with blocking websites to the point where I can't access google, do my homework (which is in Google Classroom), or even PRINT. What I would like to do is build an image of Ubuntu that would fit on an SD card that is bootable by ChromeOS, developer mode is blocked so I can't boot off USB, but if I make it think the SD Card is a ChromeOS signed device, it will boot off it. Anyone know any helpful advice to get me pointed in the right direction? (16gb SD and the Chromebook in question is a Asus C202S) Let's block ads! بخوانید...

Hello, This is not really an Ubuntu problem, but since I use Ubuntu I'll post this here. Please let me know if this is not the place for this question. So, I'm using keepassX with the auto-type function and as such, I need the browser's title to be updated when one changes tabs. Essentially, the tab title should be the same as the "main" title. That is not happening on my firefox. How do I go about fixing this? Any idea?I'm using the following:- Xubuntu 16.04;- Firefox 48, with e10s enabled;EDIT: I found the problem to be NoScript.. I don't want to fully disable it, I wonder if there's any option in the settings that should fix this.. Let's block ads! بخوانید...

This must have been answered somewhere, but Google as I might, I caot find the answer.According to the find manual, you can use -P (which is default anyway) to prevent it from following symlinks. But, this applies only to flies. What I want is for find to not follow any folders that are symlinks. For example, suppose the folder structure is as follows. Code: . ├── folderA │ ├── folderAA │ └── folderAB ├── folderB │ ├── folderBA │ └── folderBB └── linkToOutside -> /somewhere/else/outsideA/ I want to use find, but tell it to search only folderA and folderB, and exclude folder linkToOutside (because it is a symlink).I have tried the following options but to no avail: Code: find -P ...
