I just switched from IPS237L-BN (1920×1080) to new Dell P2416D (2560x1440) monitors in a dual setup. And I have the following problem. I get a a message on my monitors stating:"The current input timing is not supported by the monitor. Please change your input timing to 2560×1440, 60Hz or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specifications." Effectively I don't see my boot/bios screen or any tty's. I'm often ruing a simultaneous VNC window alongside a regular native X session. From time to time, and with no rhyme or reason that I can detect, my X window session hangs, producing a black screen. The keyboard isn't frozen (I can see the caps-lock go on), but hitting Alt-F4 or Cntl-Alt-F4 doesn't bring me to a terminal.I'm talking about weeks or months...it's not common!The odd thing is that my VNC session still is fine, and I can access everything fine. But to get back to a working X session, I've had to always close everything out and hard power down the computer. Then reboot.Is there a way to just type something via the command line that will keep the VNC session going and just refresh ...

So the xorg issue with the pointer disappearing has been solved and that is absolutely great!However, I still seem to have a problem with light locker. After suspend, locking the screen or logging out, I see my wallpaper for a second or so, then there is a glitch and tus to the default light blue background. When I change the user to Guest and then back to my account, my wallpaper appears and stays for good.Any ideas as to what might be causing this and/or how to fix it? Let's block ads! بخوانید...

I booted into ubuntu 14.04, which I was happy with, and it prompted me to upgrade to 16.04. It was late and I didn't read everything properly, and in the process it updated some items like phpmyadmin, php, and mysql that I had installed for a local development web server. Unfortunately, that's caused major issues & now nothing works. I don't want to run newer versions as I know the web application I was using locally doesn't work on newer versions. Hi,after the update to ubuntu 16.04, my laptop (Samsung NP305E5A) boots to a black screen. The boot process continues since it is obviously reading from the hard drive and also playing the drums sound for the login-window after a while. However, the screen remains black from right after the grub-screen is gone and stays like that. Ctrl+Alt+F2 also does not take me to a usable command line. Came back to linux because I'm tired of Windows. Ruing into a few issues however. I have a Dell Inspiron 7348, which dell sells with Ubuntu.First, my mouse icons disspears after I recover from sleep. I read this may have something to do with a gnome daemon, I checked and didn't see it. Any idea's here?I have the proprietary Intel video drivers installed, at least I think I do.Also, something I'm not used too, is the jumping. It's so sensitive! I have a USB drive at work that's specified in fstab (although the pathname says RAID it's not an array, just a single USB drive of 2 Tb). In 14.04, when I booted the computer without the drive coected, I would get an option during boot to skip that and then it would boot just fine. In 16.04 however, it boots into emergency mode instead. I can get around this by booting in startup mode but it's really aoying. How can I get around this? Another forum member posted a thread about TPM passthrough and its been something I've been meaning to do for a while. Qemu 2.5 has a bug that prevents a Windows guest from loading the TPM driver, this is patched from qemu 2.6 onwards so I've got qemu 2.6.1 in my build chain and am ruing the guest on the cmd line. Windows now reports my TPM in Device Manager under Security Devices but the Bitlocker app says no compatible TPM can be found :-/ The TPM is most definitely bitlocker compatible as if I boot Win10 on the same bare metal then everything works so this is a virt issue somewhere, and I'd hazard a guess to say its Windows guest specific as I believe passing the same device through to a ...

Hello.Am a Linux novice. Performed an on-line update from 14.04 to 16.04 on my laptop which is an Asus Ultrabook. It has an 1T SSD and is dual-boot with Windows 8.1 via grub. Have done the same upgrade on my Intel i7 desktop without issue. It however DOES NOT have an SSD.During boot, there are errors reported that I caot decipher and, I believe, has to do with Ubuntu recognizing my SSD (sd9?). It is a Corsair SSD. During boot it performs some sort of disk diag that runs for 1m 50s? Sometimes it won't boot at all and I have to do the three-finger-salute (control-alt-delete).Have a copy of my dmsg file and have attached it... (after I looked up where to find it)Again. Since making a clean install of 16.04.1 just over a week ago, I've had Thunar 1.6.10 (which came with the UbuntuStudio distro) fall over very frequently when I rename a file.Sometimes it happens on the first file I rename, sometimes on the 3rd or even higher. Once it has fallen over, it happens more frequently during the session. By fall-over, I mean Thunar just vanishes from the screen and has to be restarted. The rename operation was completed each time and no data is lost (so far) so it is just aoying rather than worrying.I never had this happen in UStudio 14.04 during the two years or so that I was using it. Hello all! I am new to this and am hoping to get some help if possible. I have downloaded the 32 bit version of Ubuntu 15.04 and have installed it on my Dell PowerEdge 2650. The system is set up with 4 hard drives, one as the boot drive and the other 4 as RAID. The install seems to go perfectly, but once the system requires reboot, the screen always goes blank and my monitor says "Input Not Supported".
