I just switched from IPS237L-BN (1920×1080) to new Dell P2416D (2560x1440) monitors in a dual setup. And I have the following problem. I get a a message on my monitors stating:"The current input timing is not supported by the monitor. Please change your input timing to 2560×1440, 60Hz or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specifications." Effectively I don't see my boot/bios screen or any tty's. Once at the logon screen I have 2× highres screens running at 2560x1440 without a problem.What works:With a vga cable I see the boot screen and tty's.With DVI-D > HDMI cable connected I see GUI onlyWith HDMI cable connected I see GUI onlyWhat doesn't work:With DVI-D > HDMI cable connected I don't see the boot screen and tty'sWith HDMI cable connected I don't see the boot screen and tty'sBoth situations display the "input timing" message.Is there a solution for this situation? Hi! I use Ubuntu 16.04 (Unity) on my Dell Inspiron-20-Model-3043 (touch screen).My problem is that the lock screen (ctrl + alt + L) changed to the old style like the one in Ubuntu 10.10, and I don't know why exactly, I don't remember have done anything in particular.maybe it changed after the installation of Unity 8 mir but I didn't notice it until 3 days later so I'm not sure. HiSorry if this is the incorrect section to post this.Just started using Mint 18 Cinnamon 64bit and love it so far not touched windows for a while now.I've managed to move over all i do on my win10 install to mint and haven't looked back.There is an issue though, when i play my media from my unbuntu server in kodi on my second monitor (Samsung 40" TV") in full-screen mode the bottom task bar vanishes from the primary monitor.The TV is connected via HDMI on then second DVI socket using a DVI to HDMI converter from my GeForce GTX 460 and the audio comes from the toslink socket on ASUS P8Z77-V LX motherboard, both audio and video are perfect.If i put kodi into windowed mode and fullscreen it on the TV it plays fine but you have a kodi title bar at the top of the screen, this is less then ideal, you do have the task bar back on the primary monitor though.Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere that will allow me to put kodi into fullscreen mode on the TV and retain the task bar on the pri,kodi full screen,kodi full screen windows,kodi full screen mac,kodi full screen mode,kodi full screen key,kodi full screen too big,kodi full screen windows 10,kodi full screen not working,kodi full screen ubuntu,kodi full screen zoomed in ...ادامه مطلب

Hi,after the update to ubuntu 16.04, my laptop (Samsung NP305E5A) boots to a black screen. The boot process continues since it is obviously reading from the hard drive and also playing the drums sound for the login-window after a while. However, the screen remains black from right after the grub-screen is gone and stays like that. Ctrl+Alt+F2 also does not take me to a usable command line. I found no way for the screen to show anything.However, I did find something one might call a workaround. If I kill the booted laptop by pressing the power button for several seconds and then try the boot process again, ubuntu works absolutely fine with one notable exeption: grub gives me 30 seconds to choose my boot options instead of the regular 10s. This "workaround" also works if I kill the OS while it is still booting to a black screen and then boot again. Hello.My friend has Ubuntu, the previous LTS, installed on her Asus EEE PC 1000H laptop. She is considering to upgrade to Xenial Xerus. Are there any guarantees if the upgrade succeeds, and whether it works well enough?The current LTS Ubuntu works on the laptop, it is really slow but works.The laptop has 2 GB RAM, 120 GB Kingston SSD, GPU is probably Intel GMA.Has anybody else experiences on running Xenial Xerus on EEE PC 1000H?What are the possible problems one should expect when upgrading and after the upgrade (if it succeeds)? Came back to linux because I'm tired of Windows. Running into a few issues however. I have a Dell Inspiron 7348, which dell sells with Ubuntu.First, my mouse icons disspears after I recover from sleep. I read this may have something to do with a gnome daemon, I checked and didn't see it. Any idea's here?I have the proprietary Intel video drivers installed, at least I think I do.Also, something I'm not used too, is the jumping. It's so sensitive! I cannot find way to reduce the, or even configure the sensitivity, or some sort of palm detection.Lastly, at least so far is the keyboard. Non of my built-in keys like volume etc work. Hello.Am a Linux novice. Performed an on-line update from 14.04 to 16.04 on my laptop which is an Asus Ultrabook. It has an 1T SSD and is dual-boot with Windows 8.1 via grub. Have done the same upgrade on my Intel i7 desktop without issue. It however DOES NOT have an SSD.During boot, there are errors reported that I cannot decipher and, I believe, has to do with Ubuntu recognizing my SSD (sd9?). It is a Corsair SSD. During boot it performs some sort of disk diag that runs for 1m 50s? Sometimes it won't boot at all and I have to do the three-finger-salute (control-alt-delete).Have a copy of my dmsg file and have attached it... (after I looked up where to find it)Again. It's an Asus Ultrabook S500CA w/ 12G of memory (8+4 G - limitation of hardware/motherboard?). OK i will try to give as much info as i can so this be alittle long so try and stick with me. OK i have a asus g60vx as stated and have a Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU P7350 along with the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M with 1GB GDDR3 VRAM. Heres where im at and stuck at, i have reformatted the hard drive and re installed 16.04 two times and get the same stuff showing up, along with not being able to run the driver for the nvidia even though i have downloaded it still dosnt work, i am not able to download anything from ubuntu software center, i am not able to download anything running the command lines, and i can not install any updates. Hello all! I am new to this and am hoping to get some help if possible. I have downloaded the 32 bit version of Ubuntu 15.04 and have installed it on my Dell PowerEdge 2650. The system is set up with 4 hard drives, one as the boot drive and the other 4 as RAID. The install seems to go perfectly, but once the system requires reboot, the screen always goes blank and my monitor says "Input Not Supported". The graphics is running from the on board controller.I have tried to hold the Left Shift Key, Right Shift Key, ESC, Arrow Down, CTRL+Alt+F1 and still cannot access the GRUB screen I keep reading about. I can see the words "Starting GRUB" or something like that right before the screen goes blank. I have even tried letting the screen go blank, then pressing the arrow down key, then "Enter" and still nothing. Using the install disk, I tried using "nomodeset" as a boot option on the "first disk" which did not work either. After applying the latest upgrade instead of prompting for my password, Ubuntu is not sending any signal to my monitor. It gets so far as the 5/6 dots to show it is progressing through boot, but no further. What I have tried already is below:When attempting to run in fail safe graphics mode (from 4.4.0-34-generic (recovery mode) and 4.2.0-42-generic (recovery mode)) I receive the following error: Code: The system is running in low-graphics mode Your screen, graphics card, and input device settings could not be detected correctly. You will need to configure these yourself. If I select the radio button for try running with default graphical mode the black cross cursor appears in the foreground but the background is just a black screen, and this does not change. If I select reconfigure graphics I receive a prompt to select either use default (generic) configuration or use your backed-up configuration.
