Trouble booting with Live USB on my HP Laptop

Hello Folks,

I have started using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS as a persistent Live USB using an encrypted Apricon Aegis Padlock HDD. It works great on my MacBook with no issues except when I switch to nVidia proprietary graphics driver.

So my first question is has anyone else seen this issue while installing nvidia graphic driver on a LiveUSB ?

Secondly, when I boot the same HDD on my HP Pavillion Laptop and coect it to an exteal monitor, it put my usb to sleep as soon as I tu down the laptop lid and in tu I can't use the OS anymore. Is there any settings where I can specify not to put my USB to sleep even if my lid is down ?
