MDADM RAID1 of boot devices not working

I am at my wits end trying to set up RAID 1 for my OS devices. I feel like I have tried everything but I always get some sort of failure back. Here's what I have done so far that has gotten me the furthest:Both devices:2GB /boot (yes it's big but I really don't care)42GB /12GB swapThat is done on both devices (side note: setting the boot flag never works, it always remains in the off position)Next, I go to configure software RAID and I set RAID 1, 2 disks, 0 spares and choose the partitions accordingly. Once finished, I have my 3 RAID devices, my first one I set to /boot, second is / and third is swap. I get down to the point where it fails to install GRUB on the second disk. I have also tri...

[ubuntu] Wi-Fi Network Adapter

Hello everyone!I'm pretty new to Linux, and need help with installing a driver. Currently, my computer has an inteal WiFi adapter that can only coect to 2.4 GHz, so I bought one of those small WiFi adapters that you plug into your USB (here's the link to it: https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Netw.../dp/B00W5UHQ8M). This one let's me coect to 5.0 GHz which would GREATLY increase my WiFi speed from about 10 Mbps to around 150 Mbps. It works great on my Windows installation (I have Linux dual-booted). When I installed the driver on Windows I noticed an option for Linux, so I'm pretty sure I could get this to work. On the CD that came with it I found two files that might have the drivers in it; on...

[ubuntu] Ethernet / LAN Keeps disconnecting roughly 5 or 6 mins after plugging it in

As the title says my etheet keeps discoecting roughly 5 mins after plugging in the etheet cable. If I plug it out and back in again it works perfectly for another 5 mins. I have a USB to LAN coection when I use that I have no coections whatsoever, it only happens when I plug the etheet cable into the on board etheet port on my laptop. The coection isn't loose and the wire isn't damaged in any way. Any ideas what's causing this? I read somewhere TLP was causing LAN issues and so I uninstalled TLP yet the issue is still their. grateful for any help received on the matter. Here is the output of lspci: Code: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor DRAM Controller (rev 09) 00...

Update Manager is giving one-liners after they switched to Gnome 3.20

I don't know if this is a Flashback issue or not, but I have this issue on all my Yakkety boxes, which have Flashback installed. When doing an update and clicking show details, UM will give you one line of download information and then 10-15 lines of terminal progress, unless you clicked show details after it downloaded all the files and were already installing them, you only get one line of terminal output. If you manage to click details while downloading and if you manage to maximize the window still while downloading, it will give you more terminal lines when installing.update_mangler2.png Let's block ads! بخوانید...

[ubuntu] can't do-release-upgrade from 14.04.5 LTS ot 16.04?

Hi,I'm trying to do-release-upgrade from my 14.04.5 LTS box to 16.04 LTS, but do-release-upgrade tells me that either I have unofficial packages or I'm trying to upgrade from an outdated version, neither of which seems to be true. But other than this message, I can't get out the specifics of why the upgrade is not working.14.04.5 is listed among the 'current' releases: http://releases.ubuntu.com/ . this is what my system sais: Code: # lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS Release: 14.04 Codename: trusty I filed a bug on this regard, but no response: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...r/+bug/1612301What could be wrong?AkosLet's...

[lubuntu] Can not install my Epson L355 printer on Lubuntu 16.04

I have installed Lubuntu 16.04 and can not install my Epson printer L355, basically I tried two ways:1. Downloaded from epson site and installed the package: epson-inkjet-printer-201207w_1.0.0-1lsb3.2_i386.deb. Apparently it installed fine but when opening "Printers" menu although it appears "coected to localhost" there is a message "there are not printers configured yet"2. Using the terminal I have installed "cups-2.2rc1" program. Then tried the browser to go to "http://localhost:613" and the answer was: "can not coect"Two more details: using the terminal installed the LSB package. And it is not a printer issue, in fact I can scan without problem with "Simple Scan"Greetings and thanks Let's...

Hi allthe battery on my brandnew laptop with Ubuntu 16.04 is not being detected. After some researching in the inteet I thought it was an acpi-issue and with a similar problem somebody had success in setting a grub boot parameter to acpi=force. But it didn't work with me.When I type acpi in the terminal, then I get:No support for device type: power_supplyBut acpi is installed: #acpi -v gives meacpi 1.7Somewhere else a similar problem was called rather a problem of upower (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...r/+bug/1606159).
