The printer appears to be recognized correctly, and it appears in the Printers settings panel. But when I click the "Print Test Page" button, nothing happens. When I "lpr testDoc.txt", the lights blink on the printer, but nothing prints. A pop-up prompt tells me it is "Printing" and then "Printing Completed" -- but nothing prints.##Here are some error messages in /var/log/cups/error_log:> tail -f /var/log/cups/error_log (...when printing test page from printer settings panel)E [28/Jul/2016:18:48:42 -0400] [Client 59] ...

It only allows boot by default of "Windows Boot Manager" by description. But since you only have Ubuntu we can change description from ubuntu to Windows or have Windows description boot Windows. Those that dual boot use the fallback or hard drive entry /efi/Boot/bootx64.efi. That usually is just a copy of Windows .efi file if you already have it. See line 14 in Summary report. You can also remove the existing Windows .efi files. (Edit - do not delete, see below as it now is shim). But backup ESP partition sda1 before deleting anything. You also are showing two ESP - efi system partitions. While UEFI may allow mor...

I read how to do things and got xubunto ruing good yesterday.Today I noticed all icons on desktop had a lock symbol and searched on web figuring out it would have something to do with permissions.I followed some posts saying I should use Code: sudo chown -R $USER: $HOME" and "sudo chmod 777 -R /path to folder but I didnt notice any change so I restarted the pc.Since then I cant get past what seems to be initramfs saying that "the root filesystem on /dev/sda1 requires manual fsck".Again I searched on web how to fix it and ended up using commands like "sudo fsck /dev/sd1" etc. but in all my attempts to fix it in the end I get a...

This used to work fine, I install Ubuntu on one of them, configure it and then clone it to all other disks with Clonezilla.Unfortunately since 16.04 they won't start. It's stating "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert Media..". It doesn't matter whether I choose UEFI or legacy. Even more aoying is that a new installation from a Ubuntu 16.04 disk with option "Delete everything and install Ubuntu 16.04.1" (it recognizes the other installation!) doesn't fix the issue. Same error. If I install it without trying to clone before it works fine.I tried to f...

ادامه مطلبI'm trying to install Kubuntu 16.04 in a dual boot configuration with Windows 10. Windows 10 is installed in UEFI mode, and the BIOS is setup to allow only UEFI (legacy boot options are disabled). I disabled secure boot. I chose manual partitioning and I'm at the partitioning step. At this point I'm asked the device for boot loader installation (see image attached).2016-07-08 15.57.46.jpgwhich one should I chose? According to this guide https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI"in a UEFI-mode installation, Ubuntu will not ask you where to install the boot loader. If it does, or if it complains about the lack of a BIOS Boot Partition, you've probably accidentally booted in BIOS/CSM/legacy mode."...

ادامه مطلبGreetings,I have an audio device that ALSA interprets as only accepting a 32-bit little-endian data format. And I would like to play "normal" 16-bit music to that device. To add one extra wrinkle: I am fairly certain this device is a 24-bit audio device. It's the miniDSP usbstreamer B unit, and the product webpage describes it as 24-bit (with 32-bit inteal processor). Is there a quick and effective way to convert the music on-the-fly, i.e. like when I call mplayer on the audio file? Ideally it would be something that could be put into the /var/lib/alsa/asound.conf file. Barring that, I want to drive this usb audio device by MPD, so if this could be done in the mpd config file, great. In case y...
