So the xorg issue with the pointer disappearing has been solved and that is absolutely great!However, I still seem to have a problem with light locker. After suspend, locking the screen or logging out, I see my wallpaper for a second or so, then there is a glitch and tus to the default light blue background. When I change the user to Guest and then back to my account, my wallpaper appears and stays for good.Any ideas as to what might be causing this and/or how to fix it? HiSorry if this is the incorrect section to post this.Just started using Mint 18 Cinnamon 64bit and love it so far not touched windows for a while now.I've managed to move over all i do on my win10 install to mint and haven't looked back.There is an issue though, when i play my media from my unbuntu server in kodi on my second monitor (Samsung 40" TV") in full-screen mode the bottom task bar vanishes from the primary monitor.The TV is connected via HDMI on then second DVI socket using a DVI to HDMI converter from my GeForce GTX 460 and the audio comes from the toslink socket on ASUS P8Z77-V LX motherboard, both audio and video are perfect.If i put kodi into windowed mode and fullscreen it on the TV it plays fine but you have a kodi title bar at the top of the screen, this is less then ideal, you do have the task bar back on the primary monitor though.Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere that will allow me to put kodi into fullscreen mode on the TV and retain the task bar on the pri,kodi full screen,kodi full screen windows,kodi full screen mac,kodi full screen mode,kodi full screen key,kodi full screen too big,kodi full screen windows 10,kodi full screen not working,kodi full screen ubuntu,kodi full screen zoomed in ...ادامه مطلب

Hi!First off, let me say that I've searched in the forums (and the inteet) for this issue and had no luck solving it. Also, I have tried some other distros besides the one I have on the machine right now (Xubuntu 16.04) and it's all the same.The issue itself is that after I install the distro, or run the "try without installing" option, wifi stops working. Hello Members!Please help me wade through these Confusing entries getting visible against the Boot-menu. I had Mythbuntu 14.04 running on this machine, but it was getting flaky: some recordings OK, some zero-length, some excessively large and presumably corrupt that would crash the frontend when I tried to play them. I'd applied the various updates that were offered, but they did not cure the problem. Then a day or two ago I was offered the update to 16.04, but that was a disaster, so I saved my recordings to an exteal drive and ran mythconverg_backup.pl and copied the resulting files to the exteal drive as well. Then I tried installing 14.04.5 from scratch but the installation failed -- something involving xfsettingsd -- so I installed 14.04.2. I can watch live TV, but there is no longer a Program Guide (or whatever it was called) on the menu, and when I press "I" while viewing I get "Unknown." BTW, when 14.04 *was* working -- although flakily -- I often found that the program title displayed in the recording list was correct but the description belonged to another program -- not one, ...ادامه مطلب

My phpmyadmin shows the following error on the main page: The mcrypt extension is missing. Please check your PHP configuration. I am setting up a system using xubuntu 16.04.01 LTS.It has a Startech HSB100SATBK 5.25" Trayless mobile rack for 3.5" HDD.It works fine when someone is logged in. The auto mount feature shows an icon on the users desktop for the drive.I can remove the drive, and the icon disappears. When I plug in another drive, it comes back, and the drive automatically mounts.What I am trying to do, is have the drive mount automatically, to a specific location, without any user logged on.That way, the drive can be swapped out without any need for a user to log onto the system, and the backup will run as a crontab.Has anyone been able to do this?Cheers!Naught McNoone Let's block ads! بخوانید, ...ادامه مطلب

I agree with the recommendation to have separate home partitions for each of the installed systems. (You can also have /home as directories inside the root directories.)If you want to share personal files (documents, music, multimedia files) I suggest that you have a separate data partition. When you have Windows alongside linux, it is a good idea to use the file system NTFS in the data partition to make it available for both linux and Windows. Otherwise you should use a linux file system (for example ext4).(Linux can also read and write the Windows [system] partition, but it is risky, it is better to have a separate data partition.) I've installed Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04 (also tried Xubuntu 16.04/14.04) on my brand new laptop i5 6200u/8gb/gt940m/240gb. I have problem with ubuntu performance, which doesn't occur on windows, where everything i've tried works just fine. On ubuntu I feel lagging when just typing - e. g. in codeblocks or in chromium.In gtkperf i receive very different results - once it's like 2,5s and next time 20-30s (!).I tried reinstalling ubuntu couple of times, with swap and without it. Also on empty ssd - with no effect at all. Memtest - no errors, ssd benchmarks - fine, cpu benchmarks - common results (benchmarking under windows).I wonder if someone can tell me what causes my problems - thanks in advance!
