I tried Multisystem maybe some years ago and it worked for me. I don't know how to plays with 16.04 LTS. If you have problems with French (like me), maybe you should try another tool to create a multiboot system. If you intend to use it for many distros, also distros that are very different from Ubuntu and Debian, I suggest that you try some other tool, for example- Multiboot-USB- YUMI (from Windows)If you will use it only for Ubuntu, flavours and re-spins based on Ubuntu, you can try- One pendrive for all PC (Intel/AMD) computers - single-boot dual-boot multi-bootYou can also make it yourself according to the following general 'grub-n-iso' linksArch: Multiboot_USB_drivehttps://help.ubuntu.co...

In my attempt to make a my Mac Mini 1,1 dual boot OSX 10.5 and Ubuntu 14.04, I have set things up incorrectly pertaining to sharing drive space between these OS's. And I don't know how to fix it.My goal is to have the single hard drive divided into partitions for each OS, and another one for files that can be accessed from either OS.I encountered the user ID mismatch problem and tried to fix it by assigning the Ubuntu user ID to 501, to match that of the OSX 10.5 user ID. I did so by trying to follow the instructions I found on this web page: http://lifehacker.com/5702815/the-co...rating-systemsThat procedure had me create a “tempuser” account in Ubuntu. Then us some chown commands on the ho...

Hi everyone. New guy here on the forum.I just installed Lubuntu (XFCE) on an MacBook Pro 2010 13" laptop, which all went fine and dandy. I now want to try out a different Linux Ubuntu flavor but I can't seem to access choosing disks when holding down option at startup. No disks at all show up. The disks do however show up clearly within the Lubuntu installation itself, including the USB boot drive I have created.I have tried changing the mounting options by to just include the USB drive but to no success.Any ideas what might be the cause of this, and how to solve it?Many thanks in advance. Hi,I've been ruing Ubuntu for a few weeks on an old-ish laptop (I've used it before on other computers), and trying to log on just now, it's telling me:/dev/sda1: UNEXPEXTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY.(i.e., without -a or -p options)fsck exited with status code 4The root filesystem on /dev/sdal requires a manual fsckIt's then started something called:BusyBox v1.22.1 (Ubuntu 1:1.22.0-15ubuntu1) built-in shell (ash)And my command line begins with:(initramfs)Any help with what to do from here would be greatly appreciated p.s.I've tued on & off again few times, including starting in recovery mode - same result.I've also already run Ubuntu from disk to get my files copied onto a pen dri...

Ubuntu 14.04Hi.My system has recently begun ruing some sort of memory test after every so many boots. The process takes about 30 seconds, and is quite aoying. I would prefer to invoke such a test on demand, rather than have the system decide when to run it. I'm not sure how, or why, this feature started. How can I remove the automatic ruing of this test?Thanks,M.. Let's block ads! بخوانید...

So I've been hosting my Plex Media Server and 2 Mumble Servers off my Main Windows 10 Gaming rig for a while now. I just recently built a new machine and threw Ubuntu 14 on it.All was working fine.. I got mumble working great on it..plex was working fine. I ****ed up some settings with Phpmumbleadmin and for some reason DHCP wasn't picking up an IP address from the Router on the ubuntu machine only. Wifi was fine, and Desktop was fine.I decided i probably screwed up apache or myphpadmin or something and decided to just reinstall Ubuntu.Woohoo it was working again. Installed Plex, started copying files over from my NAS for the Plex files/database, walked away and came back to the same issue!!...

To run a dos program in Ubuntu you would need to install a dos emulator.(or possible try to run it with wine(which is windows emulator-like program that allows you to run windows programs near natively in Ubuntu), or inside a windows virtual machine)But two choices for a dos emulator aredosbox and dosemuAlso, don't post the .exe file.As that might be in violation of the programs terms of use, et cetra.(and we do not allow violations of terms of use)You can post a link to it's web page, if it has one. Hi,I have a server with 16.04 up and ruing. I used lxd to create a container environment, where I bridged my network.Everything is ruing smoothly. Now I want to create different containers, which belong to 3 projects.I would like to separate these projects, they should be ruing in 3 different networks, two containers in every subnet should have a loadbalancer and a jumhost, they should have two network interfaces, one facing to the projects inteal network, one facing the default network, that is the one my serveode is using. How can this be archieved? Would I have to set up the project-inteal network manually or can I configure multiple networks with LXC / LXD?Kind regards, Let's block ads! بخ...

Hi. I am looking for a general recommendation on virtual web server requirements (more specifically, ram and virtual processors). I am ruing Ubuntu Server 16.04.1 with LAMPS and WordPress and might add Drupal in the future. The server is going to have minimal traffic.I have a general idea of what I need, but would like to get some advice from those who currently run their own. The web server is ruing on a AMD A10-7700K 3.40GHz with 16GB RAM. Right now I have 2 virtual processors and 4GB RAM dedicated to the VM. Is that overkill? Would one virtual processor and 2GB RAM be efficient enough? Thanks! Let's block ads! بخوانید...

Hello. I have an apple iMac from late 2009 with a radeon HD 4850 GPU, on to which I want to put at this point any linux. I have previously asked for help here: http://www.forums.fedoraforum.org/sh...d.php?t=309979 however, no one has responded to the thread for a while so I doubt the problem is going to be solved. To reiterate the contents of the above,Whenever I boot from any linux disk, the screen shuts off immediately after grub. Starting fedora in basic graphics mode alleviated this problem, but the subsequent graphics performance was extremely poor and brightens adjustment didn't function, leading me to believe the GPU isn't being utilized at all. I was also unable to find any equivalen...

Since keel version 4.4.0-20, EFI_SECURE_BOOT_SIG_ENFORCE has been enabled--meaning that all keel modules must be signed by a trusted key. Most modules are shipped already signed by a trusted key, however any modules that need to be build by the user themselves (ie. using dkms) are unsigned and will fail to load with a message similar to the one below. Code: modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'vboxdrv': Required key not available This is a problem for me because both virtualbox, and the proprietary NVIDIA drivers fall into the category of modules that need to be built by the user. There are two possible solutions for this problem.Disable secure bootEither in the bios or using Code: sudo mo...

I had big difficulties with VBox 5.1 when I tried it a week or two ago.I have guests of Linux Mint 17.3 and 18, Xubuntu and Ubuntu 16.04, Debian 8.5, and also WinXP, all of which ran faultlessly in VBox 5.0.# versions in my Xubuntu 14.04 as the host and all the 4.3 and 5.0. versions have given me none, or very few problems ever. When I noticed 5.1 was available I immediately tried it but it had problems with graphics, USBs, and networking. I did not bother trying to solve this but immediately downgraded back to the 5.0.# version and with that version, the problems went away.Perhaps worth trying that yourself to see if you have the same success with Vbox-5.0.26, the current 5.0 version.
