In my attempt to make a my Mac Mini 1,1 dual boot OSX 10.5 and Ubuntu 14.04, I have set things up incorrectly pertaining to sharing drive space between these OS's. And I don't know how to fix it.My goal is to have the single hard drive divided into partitions for each OS, and another one for files that can be accessed from either OS.I encountered the user ID mismatch problem and tried to fix it by assigning the Ubuntu user ID to 501, to match that of the OSX 10.5 user ID. Hallo Everyone,I am trying to install a Canon Pixma MG5750 for a friend and have discovered a strange thing ...We both have identical installations of Lubuntu (I installed for him) but my installation contains the driver for this printer but his does not.My suspicion is that, at some time, I have installed a bundle of "extra printers".Does such a thing exist? I am setting up a system using xubuntu 16.04.01 LTS.It has a Startech HSB100SATBK 5.25" Trayless mobile rack for 3.5" HDD.It works fine when someone is logged in. The auto mount feature shows an icon on the users desktop for the drive.I can remove the drive, and the icon disappears. When I plug in another drive, it comes back, and the drive automatically mounts.What I am trying to do, is have the drive mount automatically, to a specific location, without any user logged on.That way, the drive can be swapped out without any need for a user to log onto the system, and the backup will run as a crontab.Has anyone been able to do this?Cheers!Naught McNoone Let's block ads! بخوانید...

Hi everyone. New guy here on the forum.I just installed Lubuntu (XFCE) on an MacBook Pro 2010 13" laptop, which all went fine and dandy. I now want to try out a different Linux Ubuntu flavor but I can't seem to access choosing disks when holding down option at startup. No disks at all show up. The disks do however show up clearly within the Lubuntu installation itself, including the USB boot drive I have created.I have tried changing the mounting options by to just include the USB drive but to no success.Any ideas what might be the cause of this, and how to solve it?Many thanks in advance. Hello allI have just started work in an organisation which uses an intranet accessed by wifi. Staff provide their own laptops and mine uses lubuntu.I can access most things within the system but there is an smb:// shared network which I caot coect to. I have tried various things (ie, posting the smb address in file manager and in nautilus, using the Coect to Server option within file manager) and have had no luck. Most of these options say that the coection has been rejected, sometimes that the address was not found.The IT dept have had a look but aren't familiar with lubuntu. So I've been hosting my Plex Media Server and 2 Mumble Servers off my Main Windows 10 Gaming rig for a while now. I just recently built a new machine and threw Ubuntu 14 on it.All was working fine.. I got mumble working great on it..plex was working fine. I ****ed up some settings with Phpmumbleadmin and for some reason DHCP wasn't picking up an IP address from the Router on the ubuntu machine only. Wifi was fine, and Desktop was fine.I decided i probably screwed up apache or myphpadmin or something and decided to just reinstall Ubuntu.Woohoo it was working again. Installed Plex, started copying files over from my NAS for the Plex files/database, walked away and came back to the same issue!!...
