[xubuntu] Light locker does not display wallpaper on yakkety

  • So the xorg issue with the pointer disappearing has been solved and that is absolutely great!However, I still seem to have a problem with light locker. After suspend, locking the screen or logging out, I see my wallpaper for a second or so, then there is a glitch and tus to the default light blue background. When I change the user to Guest and then back to my account, my wallpaper appears and stays for good.Any ideas as to what might be causing this and/or how to fix it?   • [ubuntu] TPM passthrough and Windows Bitlocker...no compatible TPM found?

  • Another forum member posted a thread about TPM passthrough and its been something I've been meaning to do for a while. Qemu 2.5 has a bug that prevents a Windows guest from loading the TPM driver, this is patched from qemu 2.6 onwards so I've got qemu 2.6.1 in my build chain and am running the guest on the cmd line. Windows now reports my TPM in Device Manager under Security Devices but the Bitlocker app says no compatible TPM can be found :-/ The TPM is most definitely bitlocker compatible as if I boot Win10 on the same bare metal then everything works so this is a virt issue somewhere, and I'd hazard a guess to say its Windows guest specific as I believe passing the same device through to a linux guest works as I got output from tpm_nvinfo in my test linux guest.Has anyone seen this before?   • I'm trying to set up a dedicated server for the house, but I keep running into the trouble of having no connection!I first found out I had no connection when I started to install the server. It reported that it could not connect to the DHCP server, so I set it to configure later, foolishly believing that I could fix it.(All of these commands were done while in su mode.)The first thing I did was to apt update to see if it detected the Etheet after installation. It failed to fetch the files.Then, I looked at lshw -C network to find that my Etheet interface was disabled.Finally, I took a check at ifconfig and saw that the device eth0 does not exist at all!So, I tried creating it by adding auto eth0 / iface eth0 inet dhcp and restarting the networking service for the computer to complain that eth0 does not exist (even after restarting!).This problem traveled with me over two motherboards, yet the etheet cable works for my laptop (which has the same version - 16.04 LTS).Please, please help me.   • Objective: I would like to be able to block an IP address from having any/all connections to my server running Ubuntu 16.04 and strictly iptables.Background: I've read tutorials and troubleshooting articles, so I know how the implementation should work, but it's not. I'm starting fresh to troubleshoot, so I have flushed my entire iptables, uninstalled and purged ufw, erased all but the standard INPUT/OUTPUT/FORWARD chains, and am currently trying to block one of my other devices so I'm able to test realtime.Problem/Observation: Despite my iptables seemingly being configured correctly, I am still able to connect to the server through the device with the IP in rule #1 on both SSH and other specific service ports.sudo iptables -L -n -v --line-number (IP address redacted for security): Code: Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT 205K packets, 27M bytes) num pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination 1 0 0 DROP all -- * * 107.##.###.### 0.0.0.0/0 2 3757 318K ACCEPT tcp -- * * 0.0.0.0/0 0.0.0.0/0 tcp dpt:22 Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT 0 packets, 0 bytes) num pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT 287K packets, 177M bytes) num pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination Comments: The behavior seems similar to a firewall that is tued off, as I would occasionally do with ufw while testing previous solutions. From what I understand, in Ubuntu 16.04, rules inside iptables are 'active,' and don't require/allow the STOP/START/ENABLE/DISABLE/RESTART/STATUS service functions like ufw does.   • Hi. I have a 500GB Usb disk unit formatted with ext4. I need to encrypt the entire unit. All methods that I found, need to format the unit before encrypting.I need to protect the data, not erase that or format. There's any way to do this without copy all data to another unit, format, encrypt and paste the data again?   • Hello friends. I'm working with a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series laptop with Ubuntu 16.04. Fresh install. I noticed that the touchpad made me want to light things on fire, as it's sensitivity to palms when typing is a bit irritating. I went into mouse and touchpad in the system settings and didn't see my old friend known as "disable touchpad when typing."So the search began. I tried a few different things.gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.touchpad disable-while-typing true (which says not found)syndaemon -i 1 -K -d (which does nothing)Using synclient, set the palm detection to 1 (which does nothing)I also tried the below:xinput set-prop "Touchpad Name" "Synaptics Noise Cancellation" 20 20xinput set-prop "Touchpad Name" "Synaptics Finger" 50 90 255which didn't help Installed Touchpad-Indicator from the atareao PPA and set it to have a 7 (yes, 7) second delay to re-activate the touchpad.   • Disable auto saving?

  • I've noticed that posts here, as well as editing my signature, gets automatically saved as I'm typing. Is it possible to auto-save blank content (effectively delete auto-saved content) and disable this feature, such as by using a custom user script or "replacing" the yahooapis script with a local modified version?
