I've been using 14.04, and just used the upgrade command.Things happened, it asked me if I wanted to keep my grub config file or use the new one.I chose to use the new one. It sat for a while, then rebooted.On reboot, it brings up a GNU GRUB version 2.02 beta2-9ubuntu1.12 label at the top, with a grub prompt.Nothing works now.Does anybody know how to get past this??? Hello.My friend has Ubuntu, the previous LTS, installed on her Asus EEE PC 1000H laptop. She is considering to upgrade to Xenial Xerus. Hello, I am having trouble installing the updated version of SMB4K (version 1.9..65) which is not available on synaptic. I am ruing kubuntu 16.01 1 LTS with plasma 5.5.5. I have managed to unzip the tar file and have navigated to the correct folder using "cd" on terminal, when I follow the instructions on the "readme" file from the program I get error messages in terminal. I'm trying to upgrade from Kubuntu 14.04 to 16.04 and having a great deal of trouble about it.I became aware that a new version is available via popup notification on the desktop asking me if I want to upgrade to 16.04. I tell it "yes, update." It goes through a series of processes and ultimately gives me an error message saying I don't have enough space in some part of the hard drive, and to empty my trash and clean-out temporary files from old distros with Code: sudo apt-get clean I'm pretty sure that was the command. I have an AMD box, Asus Sabertooth 990FX mobo (uses UEFI BIOS; no legacy mode), Kubuntu 16.04, root disk was/is a GPT partitioned SSD(s). I cloned the old Patriot Pyro 120 GB SSD to a new Samsung 850 Pro 512 SSD using the latest Clonezilla live DVD. Wouldn't boot new SSD.So I booted from the Kubuntu 16.04 Live DVD and did the following: Although the old SSD had only two partitions and booted fine, ruing the bootinfo script on the new SSD said I needed a BIOS boot partition on it. I have installed ubuntu server 12.04 from a LiveCD adn it works fine with me. Now I need to upgrade to ubuntu 13.10. Hi, I just updated from Kubuntu 14.04 to 16.04. I have some intermittent screen flickering that I'm trying to track down. It's an Intel Ivy Bridge desktop.Every so often, when I switch applications or move the cursor from one display to the other, one of the displays flickers briefly. (I have 2x LG 1920x1080 LCDs.) It doesn't happen every time, but I notice it most often when moving from one display to the other. Occasionally it happens when switching applications, etc. within one display. Hi,I have recently upgraded from 14.04 to 16.04 and I no longer have a working installation. Specifically, I can get the system to boot to a terminal by modifying the grub entry to read "nosplash --verbose text" as suggested in the sticky for this forum. I am then able to "use" the system via tty1.I have tried many of the things which have been suggested by the author of the sticky titled "Graphics resolution- upgrade/Blank screen after reboot" including attempting to stop and restart lightdm and adjusting the gfxmode but nothing has worked so far.Can someone help me to identify the problem?
