Hi,after the update to ubuntu 16.04, my laptop (Samsung NP305E5A) boots to a black screen. The boot process continues since it is obviously reading from the hard drive and also playing the drums sound for the login-window after a while. However, the screen remains black from right after the grub-screen is gone and stays like that. Ctrl+Alt+F2 also does not take me to a usable command line. I found no way for the screen to show anything.However, I did find something one might call a workaround. I don't know if this is a Flashback issue or not, but I have this issue on all my Yakkety boxes, which have Flashback installed.When doing an update and clicking show details, UM will give you one line of download information and then 10-15 lines of terminal progress, unless you clicked show details after it downloaded all the files and were already installing them, you only get one line of terminal output. Hi! On a notebook the HDMI secondary display output is not working (no signal) after fresh install of UbuntuMate 16.04. Hello.Am a Linux novice. Performed an on-line update from 14.04 to 16.04 on my laptop which is an Asus Ultrabook. It has an 1T SSD and is dual-boot with Windows 8.1 via grub. Have done the same upgrade on my Intel i7 desktop without issue. It however DOES NOT have an SSD.During boot, there are errors reported that I caot decipher and, I believe, has to do with Ubuntu recognizing my SSD (sd9?). It is a Corsair SSD. During boot it performs some sort of disk diag that runs for 1m 50s? Hi,I thought ubuntu-14.04.5-desktop-amd64.iso can be used by usb UEFI installation, I copied the iso to a usb stick:$ sudo dd if=/tmp/ubuntu-14.04.5-desktop-amd64.iso of=/dev/sdc bs=1MPlugged it into a new Dell 11 3000 laptop, the bios boot option list pointed UEFI (the only option), but it could not detect the usb iso, it went to the Windows 10 straight away, what I could be missing here? Since making a clean install of 16.04.1 just over a week ago, I've had Thunar 1.6.10 (which came with the UbuntuStudio distro) fall over very frequently when I rename a file.Sometimes it happens on the first file I rename, sometimes on the 3rd or even higher. Once it has fallen over, it happens more frequently during the session. By fall-over, I mean Thunar just vanishes from the screen and has to be restarted. The rename operation was completed each time and no data is lost (so far) so it is just aoying rather than worrying.I never had this happen in UStudio 14.04 during the two years or so that I was using it. verifying a but usb stick against an iso imagewith a dvd/cd bu you can md5sum etc. as it actually is sized (as presented to os) to represent size of iso/imgbut usb stick is in volumes plus free space...so if initialise usb stick to zeroes first should be able to do a verify by appending N 0's to the signature depending on usb stick size?am I missing something? can you already simply verify usb stick iso bu? Hello all.So, I'm ruing an old PNY Nvidia GeForce 5200 FX AGP card in my old P4 Dell Dimension 4500. I am using the open source drivers since the proprietary drivers are not supported on 16.04.For awhile, the performance was great, and I could watch videos with little to no issues.Today, there was an update that I installed. After that update, and rebooting the machine, I can no longer watch videos as they are choppy as can be.I also noticed that I no longer have the ability to change my screen resolution. Hi,I have recently bought a HP EliteOne 800 G2 AiO with Intel Core i7-6700 3.4G 8M 2133 4C CPU, 32 GB DDR4-2133 SODIMM (2x16 GB) RAM, 256 GB SATA 2.5 3D SSD.When first booting it in Windows the graphics seems to work as it should. Then I have tested installed Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04 and Kubuntu 16.04. For all of the installations the graphics is not working correctly. The screen seems to be split in half in hight so that the whole screen is squeezed in in the upper half of the screen.
