I've been using 14.04, and just used the upgrade command.Things happened, it asked me if I wanted to keep my grub config file or use the new one.I chose to use the new one. It sat for a while, then rebooted.On reboot, it brings up a GNU GRUB version 2.02 beta2-9ubuntu1.12 label at the top, with a grub prompt.Nothing works now.Does anybody know how to get past this??? Hi,after the update to ubuntu 16.04, my laptop (Samsung NP305E5A) boots to a black screen. The boot process continues since it is obviously reading from the hard drive and also playing the drums sound for the login-window after a while. However, the screen remains black from right after the grub-screen is gone and stays like that. Ctrl+Alt+F2 also does not take me to a usable command line. I found no way for the screen to show anything.However, I did find something one might call a workaround. I don't know if this is a Flashback issue or not, but I have this issue on all my Yakkety boxes, which have Flashback installed.When doing an update and clicking show details, UM will give you one line of download information and then 10-15 lines of terminal progress, unless you clicked show details after it downloaded all the files and were already installing them, you only get one line of terminal output. Hello.Am a Linux novice. Performed an on-line update from 14.04 to 16.04 on my laptop which is an Asus Ultrabook. It has an 1T SSD and is dual-boot with Windows 8.1 via grub. Have done the same upgrade on my Intel i7 desktop without issue. It however DOES NOT have an SSD.During boot, there are errors reported that I caot decipher and, I believe, has to do with Ubuntu recognizing my SSD (sd9?). It is a Corsair SSD. During boot it performs some sort of disk diag that runs for 1m 50s? Sometimes it won't boot at all and I have to do the three-finger-salute (control-alt-delete).Have a copy of my dmsg file and have attached it... (after I looked up where to find it)Again. HP laptop, updated from Windows 7 x64 to Windows 10 (standard BIOS) with two 500 GB hard drives & 8 GB RAM wanting to dual boot Ubuntu 16.04.1 but ruing into issues with the disk 0 / sda already having four partitions and quickly ruing out of knowledge!I had previously deleted the HP Recovery partition on Disk 0 and shrunk C: volume so I had approximately 100 GB unallocated space for Ubuntu install but during Ubuntu install realized I still had the 3 partitions and so wasn't sure how to work around that with either drive.So I extended the C: volume and removed the 100 GB unallocated space until I could figure out what and how to setup.Here is where I'm at in Ubuntu install when have the ...

Hello all.So, I'm ruing an old PNY Nvidia GeForce 5200 FX AGP card in my old P4 Dell Dimension 4500. I am using the open source drivers since the proprietary drivers are not supported on 16.04.For awhile, the performance was great, and I could watch videos with little to no issues.Today, there was an update that I installed. After that update, and rebooting the machine, I can no longer watch videos as they are choppy as can be.I also noticed that I no longer have the ability to change my screen resolution.
