I just switched from IPS237L-BN (1920×1080) to new Dell P2416D (2560x1440) monitors in a dual setup. And I have the following problem. I get a a message on my monitors stating:"The current input timing is not supported by the monitor. Please change your input timing to 2560×1440, 60Hz or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specifications." Effectively I don't see my boot/bios screen or any tty's. Once at the logon screen I have 2× highres screens running at 2560x1440 without a problem.What works:With a vga cable I see the boot screen and tty's.With DVI-D > HDMI cable connected I see GUI onlyWith HDMI cable connected I see GUI onlyWhat doesn't work:With DVI-D > HDMI cable connected I don't see the boot screen and tty'sWith HDMI cable connected I don't see the boot screen and tty'sBoth situations display the "input timing" message.Is there a solution for this situation? I'm often running a simultaneous VNC window alongside a regular native X session. From time to time, and with no rhyme or reason that I can detect, my X window session hangs, producing a black screen. The keyboard isn't frozen (I can see the caps-lock go on), but hitting Alt-F4 or Cntl-Alt-F4 doesn't bring me to a terminal.I'm talking about weeks or months...it's not common!The odd thing is that my VNC session still is fine, and I can access everything fine. But to get back to a working X session, I've had to always close everything out and hard power down the computer. Hi!I am completely new to ubuntu and so far my friends help me to get it installed and helped me to get started with it.My laptop runs both windows 10 and ubuntu 16.04 and my wifi works fine with I use windows, yet I can't even access wifi networks with ubuntu (I have added images to make illustrate what I mean).Yesterday, I had access to wifi with ubuntu, but it didn't work when when I suspended my session and logged in again. So I ask my friend to help me fix this problem, but now I the situation is even worse (as I described in the last sentence).I have a RTL8723BE wireless network adapter.As i have mentioned I am completely lost and I have absolutely no idea what to do since I am on my own. I was running Ubuntu 14.04 gnome flashback (metacity) before letting the update manager upgrade to 16.04. Ubuntu now only boots to command line. After logging in, the following error appears:-bash: cannot create temp file for here-document: Read-only file systemIt looks like the operating system partition got switched to read only at some point but I don't know what to do to fix that or if it's even related. I can live boot from a flashdrive without issue. I would prefer to not have to perform a clean install to fix.Thank you all in advance. I am having issues running ownCloud on Ubuntu 16.04. Installing it is no issue but trying to access it through http or https . I follow the directions for installing ownCloud from HERE and follow the directions for setting up SSL from HERE but whenever I try to access it trough http I get this: Code: Not Found The requested URL /owncloud was not found on this server. I have a host running ubuntu 16.04. and lxc guest (archlinux). Both a running nvidia 367.35.When Upgrading to nvidia 370.23 (host and guest) I lost graphics in the container. I did not get any error messages.Was anyone successful using nvidia 370.23 and containers. Do I need to upgrade cuda 7.5 to 8.0. Are there any workarounds. I had Mythbuntu 14.04 running on this machine, but it was getting flaky: some recordings OK, some zero-length, some excessively large and presumably corrupt that would crash the frontend when I tried to play them. I'd applied the various updates that were offered, but they did not cure the problem. Then a day or two ago I was offered the update to 16.04, but that was a disaster, so I saved my recordings to an exteal drive and ran mythconverg_backup.pl and copied the resulting files to the exteal drive as well. Then I tried installing 14.04.5 from scratch but the installation failed -- something involving xfsettingsd -- so I installed 14.04.2. I can watch live TV, but there is no longer a Program Guide (or whatever it was called) on the menu, and when I press "I" while viewing I get "Unknown." BTW, when 14.04 *was* working -- although flakily -- I often found that the program title displayed in the recording list was correct but the description belonged to another program -- not one, ...ادامه مطلب

Problems with "Ralink RT3290LE 802.11bgn 1x1 Wifi and Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter" and ubuntu 16.04:1- If the wifi card is tued on when you order shutdown of the system (from terminal, shutdown button, etc.), the result is always a restart. To shutdown the laptop, one must disable previously the wifi card.2- Low sensitivity to wifi signal, sometimes losing connection intermittently. In my case, at 3 meters from the router, without obstacles in between, signal strength ranges from only 51 to 63%. Speed tests show really lower speed, specially for download (I compared this card with an usb wifi dongle)3- Sometimes the wifi card loses the connection and remains deactivated, no matter what you do; if you simply restart the system, it is impossible to tu it on; by contrast, if you make a shutdown instead of a restart, the wifi card works again.I'm experiencing all of these issues with a HP Envy m6-1202ss and ubuntu 16.04.
