I have a 64BIT OpenSuSE server I'm looking to migrate over to Ubuntu.Dell 7500 Workstation with Intel E5 Xeon processor64GB of RAM and 20TB of dataMySQL database to migrate over with it.First off before going any further, I noticed the only architecture for 64bit is AMD 64, so does this mean having a Dell server based on Intel, I'm dead in the water as is? If so I can just go towards SME Server, but I would rather try Ubuntu as it's a bit unique on it's own/to try something different.Or is there something unique about the 32bit version that will allow it to use the full 64GB of RAM? This is a domain controller that will also virtualize multiple other servers and other functions. Basically a ...
ادامه مطلبGreetings,I recently built my first 16.04 server. It has 2 1TB drives in a RAID 1 for /, Boot, Swap, and Primary Data Storage. The boot partitions on both drives is marked as bootable. It has another RAID 1 of 1TB drives for archive data storage.Discoecting any one drive prevents successful boot and drops to initramfs.Ruing dpkg-reconfigure mdadm does not ask about boot degraded. I have tried suggestions on http://askubuntu.com/questions/78995...ot-in-16-04lts without success.I'm hoping someone can assist with setting up both raids to boot degraded as neither RAID will boot but drops into initramfs. Thanks in advance,LeonAdditional detail in case it matters:/proc/mdstat:Personalities : [raid1] ...

ادامه مطلبSo I have an HP Mini netbook that was previously used as my main laptop. I have since upgraded to a better system, but my need for it retued as my old server, a Sony VAIO laptop, experienced a hard drive failure. It was old anyways so I decided to use the netbook instead. It didn't have a CD drive so I had to put the ISO for Unbuntu Server (32-Bit) on a flash drive. The installation succeeded, but when it came time to restart to boot for the first time, the laptop would get to the HP splash screen but would hang at this screen. Keyboard input didn't help either. Couldn't change boot settings and couldn't enter BIOS. I took it apart and hooked up the HDD to my desktop computer. The drive spun...

ادامه مطلبYou really should give more info from the start...1. How do you know it's not working, which IP are you trying to access? In VBox, in the VM network settings, did you leave the default NAT option or you set it to bridged? If you use NAT the VM is behind that NAT and it's not easy to access it from your home LAN. That's why I always use bridged and assign static IP from the home LAN subnet to VMs, and they can easily be accessed from any machine in the home network. Let's block ads! بخوانید...

ادامه مطلبHello I need some help on this one. First off, Ubuntu server is NOT installed on my RAID5 array, It is on a separate stand-alone disk. I rebooted my server remotely from work today via SSH and it didn't come back up. When I got home and plugged a monitor into the server I see the following message indicating one of the 4 disks in my RAID5 array has failed and the array is degraded. The problem I have is that I am unable to answer "Y" to go ahead and start the degraded array, so my system won't boot! I need to boot normally so I can see which disk has failed in the array and get a replacement ordered ASAP. I have tried reboot several times but when I get the message:If you abort now, you will...
