Greetings,I recently built my first 16.04 server. It has 2 1TB drives in a RAID 1 for /, Boot, Swap, and Primary Data Storage. The boot partitions on both drives is marked as bootable. It has another RAID 1 of 1TB drives for archive data storage.Discoecting any one drive prevents successful boot and drops to initramfs.Ruing dpkg-reconfigure mdadm does not ask about boot degraded. I have tried suggestions on http://askubuntu.com/questions/78995...ot-in-16-04lts without success.I'm hoping someone can assist with setting up both raids to boot degraded as neither RAID will boot but drops into initramfs. Thanks in advance,LeonAdditional detail in case it matters:/proc/mdstat:Personalities : [raid1] ...

Not even the Pentagon can keep everyone out of their business.I know of no arrangement where a logged-in user who opens malware (inadvertently or not) is protected whether the home directory is encrypted or not. If the malware is ruing under the logged-in user's account, then the data is effectively not encrypted, because the encryption layer is transparent after the key is enabled. This is true for any operating system.Let's block ads! بخوانید...

ادامه مطلبHi All. I've recently upgraded to 16.04 and have since been having the above problem. Although, I had similar, intermittent problems with the older version of Ubuntu (14.x). When coecting to my WiFi network, I enter a correct password, the system tries to coect and then asks me for the password again. Obviously, each time I am inputting the correct password. No problem coecting to the router with other devices such as Android phones. I am unable to access the config of the router - locked down by the service provider, so I am unable to change any of the encryption settings that some previous threads have suggested. Network Manager shows that the coection uses WPA & WPA2 Personal security set...

ادامه مطلبI actually posted this on the "Installation and Upgrades" forum, but I got no help, so perhaps a good soul on this forum can give me a clue. I have a vintage HP laptop (32b) that was ruing 14.04.5 OK. I upgraded to 16.04.1 and the installation finished OK, however all GUIs on the system show the password box grayed out when I have to elevate to administrator priviledges. However if I open a terminal I have no problem sudo'ing, e.g. sudo xxxx.... This happens on GUIs like software update, gparted, etc.[edit] I just noticed something: there are two users on the system, both with administrator priviledges. If in the useame I changed in these GUIs the useame, its password box is not grayed out a...
ادامه مطلبIf you look near the top of every page, there is a link that says, “Please read before SSO login” which leads to this sticky – the SSO registration guide. I have to assume you didn’t (read it, that is) because it tells you about using the correct email in Ubuntu One. You used a different email in Ubuntu One from the one you used to create the andalou account. The sticky also tells you about why and when useames are appended with a number. Not finding a match for the email, and with a pre-existing andalou account, the system created andalou2.We can help you get back to the andalou account, but please read this sticky first: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2164369 Let's block ads! بخ...
ادامه مطلبI just discovered that my Virtualbox installation was broken, and tried to fix it. It's taken me several hours to get to where I can try to start virtual box but without the extension pack, it still won't work. To get to this point, I had to disable secure boot. I had a deadline last night that was compromised because virtualbox was broken - and these problems are threatening my education (and any hope I have for a future).I'm using 14.04LTS and WILL NOT UPGRADE. The change from 12.04 to 14.04 took me weeks to figure out and get back to the way I wanted things (as well as getting all of the software I use to work) - admittedly that was on an old system and this one is new - a Dell preloaded ...
ادامه مطلبHi,I have recently upgraded from 14.04 to 16.04 and I no longer have a working installation. Specifically, I can get the system to boot to a terminal by modifying the grub entry to read "nosplash --verbose text" as suggested in the sticky for this forum. I am then able to "use" the system via tty1.I have tried many of the things which have been suggested by the author of the sticky titled "Graphics resolution- upgrade/Blank screen after reboot" including attempting to stop and restart lightdm and adjusting the gfxmode but nothing has worked so far.Can someone help me to identify the problem? Where should I look on my system for indications as to what is causing the issue?Any help or advice w...

ادامه مطلبHey all,I have a huge long complicated password to login, so my home folder encryption is a bit stronger. However, this then means using sudo is a huge pain. I'd like to use a slightly easier sudo password... something a malicious script or snooping user couldn't crack without effort, but also something easier on my fingers when I issue many sudos in many terminal windows. Say for instance, my login password is 30 characters long, and I'd like my sudo password (or a second addon password) to be only 8.Is this possible? And before you say full system encryption... I hear you, and I agree. I just can't because I'm on a wireless keyboard and I couldn't figure out how to get its drivers loaded be...
