Hi,after the update to ubuntu 16.04, my laptop (Samsung NP305E5A) boots to a black screen. The boot process continues since it is obviously reading from the hard drive and also playing the drums sound for the login-window after a while. However, the screen remains black from right after the grub-screen is gone and stays like that. Ctrl+Alt+F2 also does not take me to a usable command line. I found no way for the screen to show anything. However, I did find something one might call a workaround. If I kill the booted laptop by pressing the power button for several seconds and then try the boot process again, ubuntu works absolutely fine with one notable exeption: grub gives me 30 seconds to cho...

In 14.04, when I booted the computer without the drive coected, I would get an option during boot to skip that and then it would boot just fine. In 16.04 however, it boots into emergency mode instead. I can get around this by booting in startup mode but it's really aoying. How can I get around this? My fstab entry for the drive looks like this: Code: #USB drive UUID=1ade5a24-10bf-4010-aa99-75fb16d4ce32 /home/user_id/RAID ext4 rw,user 0 0 Let's block ads! بخوانید...
ادامه مطلبI got the 16.04.1 upgrade notice and started it through terminal with do-release-upgrade. It threw a lot of dpkg errors near the end, but said the update was complete despite the errors. I tried to sort out the errors before restarting, and somewhere along the way ruing apt-get autoremove was suggested (I think after ruing apt-get update && apt-get upgrade). After that I opened update manager to see if things were okay, and all it said was that a restart was needed. On restart rub tries to boot to the new keel, but doesn't do anything besides showing a black screen. Selecting the previous keel (3.16.7-031607) drops straight to a command prompt.Starting the previous keels recovery mode works,...

Unfortunately the only solution in those cases is to hold the power button to shut down, then try again. I'd rather not be doing that kind of shut down. And anyway it's a problem.I've been searching and found a tip that suggested putting a delay in /etc/init/lightdm.conf. I added a delay of 3 seconds and that seemed to fix it for a few days, but now the problem is back.Any advice would be most appreciated. Including advice on even where to look. Thanks much in advance!!Ubuntu Studio 16.4 xenial 64 bit. The computer is a bi...

ادامه مطلبHey allI have a windows 10 laptop without a removable battery that i tried to install xubuntu 15.10 on. I did some messy partitioning and made some changes so i could install the os on a uefi board. In the end i successfully installed the os.Now the problem occurs when i restart the system. It loads GRUB and i see an option for windows boot loader instead of windows 10. I note this as odd but select that option anyway. As it loads it has a sadface and says and that windows experienced an error. I couldnt catch the exact error code. When I restarted the lappy i no longer get my ASUS motherboard screen. I plugged in a hdmi and booted it and got nothing. Not sure what to do at this point as i ha...
