Hi,
I have a new dell precision 7510 in the following configuration:
Intel® Core™ i7-6820HQ CPU @ 2.70GHz × 8
Quadro M2000M/PCIe/SSE2
64 GB RAM
with Samsung Pro 850 1Tb SSD (M.2 slot is currently empty).
The system can be supplied by Dell with ubuntu, but I got it with Win7, took the HDD with Win7 out and put aside to keep and use if I have trouble with the hardware.
Ubuntu is freshly installed on SATA Samsung SSD (no dual boot - no other OS).
In general, the laptop works. The main issue - touchpad and stick are recognised as ps/2 mouse (as clear from xinput --list). Although some features of the touchpad (i.e. scrolling) does work, but scrolling on the stick does not. Also no support for disable touchpad while typing, etc.
I tried all possible ways to resolve it and it looks like that the touchpad is not recognised by the kernel.
I have (output of uname -a):
Linux aa-7510 4.4.0-34-generic #53-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jul 27 16:06:39 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Has anyone got this system (P7510) supplied with ubuntu 14.04? If yes, can you please post the output of xinput --list?
What is the way forward with this problem? I really would like to have the touchpad to be recognised.
P.S. I am trying to push dell Pro support to provide me with "linux recovery image" supplied for this system, but at the moment they seem trying to avoid answering... as my system is supplied with Win7
