Today I updated the software on my HP Pavilion laptop ruing Ubuntu 16.04. I noticed that it installed a new keel version, so after it finished, I rebooted to make sure all was well... and it came up as usual.
A few hours later, I brought it back up... and saw the following:
- what looked like plymouth logging information (for a few seconds)
- the kubuntu plymouth splash screen (again for a few seconds)
- the plymouth logging information screen
Eventually I found that if I hit ENTER at that point, I'd see one more line of what appeared to be logging information, and then I'd see the lightdm screen and could log on with no problem.
So... the post-update state doesn't render the laptop unusable by any means, but it is a bother. How can I make it behave as it should?
