Hi there

I am trying to configure OPenvpn on my Ubuntu 14.04 laptop following this guide:

https://help.ubuntu.com/14.04/serverguide/openvpn.html

I am coecting to an Ubuntu VPS with OpenVPN configured

For some reason though the client side isn't working. The tuel inteface isn't being created

Code:

$ ifconfig -a
enp9s0    Link encap:Etheet  HWaddr a4:ba:db:9d:53:f6
          inet addr:192.168.1.170  Bcast:192.168.1.255  Mask:255.255.255.0
          inet6 addr: fe80::d7d1:afdd:d70f:3704/64 Scope:Link
          UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:881230 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:784717 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:464957998 (464.9 MB)  TX bytes:227037131 (227.0 MB)
          Interrupt:18

lo        Link encap:Local Loopback
          inet addr:127.0.0.1  Mask:255.0.0.0
          inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
          UP LOOPBACK RUNNING  MTU:65536  Metric:1
          RX packets:57501 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:57501 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1
          RX bytes:15108145 (15.1 MB)  TX bytes:15108145 (15.1 MB)
$ ifconfig -a

and there is no output to /var/log/syslog other than a systemd entry:

Code:

Aug  6 13:35:47 qholloi-Inspiron-1545 systemd[1]: Starting OpenVPN service...
Aug  6 13:35:47 qholloi-Inspiron-1545 systemd[1]: Started OpenVPN service.
I tried increasing verbosity in /etc/opvpn/client.conf but still nothing.

Here is /etc/openvpn/client.conf:

Code:
