Ubuntu 16.04 stuck at "Starting WPA supplicant" after upgrade -

I just upgraded to 16.04 when I received a notification today. Initially I had problems with the Nvidia drivers and there was a black screen which I solved by using "nomodeset" at grub. But now I get something like this and it is stuck on this for half an hour:

/dev/sda6: clean <numbers>/<numbers>, files <numbers>/<numbers>, blocks
Starting WPA supplicant

Nothing happens after this.

If anyone knows how to fix this then please let me know. Shouldn't have done the upgrade during exams
