[ubuntu] Trelby 2.3 on Ubuntu 16.04

So it has come to my attention that Trelby 2.2 (the version on the trelby.org website which is available for download) does not install on Ubuntu 16.04.

However, it seems so tenacious Ubuntu-er out there was able to make things work (by getting v2.3 compiled into a .deb)...here.

Now, I have no idea how to do what this person did. I am hoping someone out there, in the far reaches of the interweb void, can help me out, by breaking down, what this person did, into laymen terms, with language which non developers can easily understand.
