I have had a Edubuntu 10.04 on a PC for children between the ages 4 and 9 for a number of years.

I like it very much. It offers a great customization and I can configure the interface to be really child-proof. As can be seen from this screenshot I have the ability to remove any menus where I want kids to not mess around in. They only have access to what I want them to have access to. And I can also make the fonts and buttons quite large for the younger kids.

The only downside is that 10.04 freezes way too often and it's sure it's not the hardware because the same games freeze of mutiple PCs.

I don't have advanced knowledge of Edubuntu other than on how to install the OS.

Recently I installed 14.04 and was disappointed with the lack of customizability. I'm busy downloading 16.04 but I suspect the interface will be the same.

To access any program is a pain and takes a number of clicks and scrolling through the entire collection of software in Edubuntu to get to what you want. This isn't streamlined enough for my purposes.

Is there a way to customize the interface more, similar to what I can do in 10.04, that I may have overlooked?
