Wired Ethernet on Mac Mini with ubuntu 16.04 not working

I installed 16.04 as a double boot on my 2011 Mac Mini and all seemed to work - until I tried to coect to my network (wired and wireless). I got the message that the coection is established after quite a while, but no IPv4s were assigned assigned. I managed to get wireless working with

The adapter is seen but only with IP6, it's probably not coecting to DHCP to get an IP.
Setting an IP manually does not help.

I tried to get the driver sources from Broadcom but failed miserably compiling (missing .h file) - keel compilation is a bit beyond me, so I can't figure out what I might be missing there.

There must be something else - simpler - to solve this problem, there are so many mac minis out there and some of the owners should be tired of OSX and run linux!

Any help to get this going is very much appreciated.
