[ubuntu] camscaer and wine

Hello everybody,

I've got a camscaer (mustek mcs 500 A3 pro) which I use to scan books. The ubuntu version I use is 16.04 lts. The problem I face is that, although I have successfully installed via wine the software that comes with the camscaer, and although it works flawlessly, the scaer itself is not recognized by it or any scaing program like simplescan or xsane. In fact, it is recognized only by cheese, ie as a web camera, not as a scaer. I can use it with cheese but I loose all the benefits of the software provided by the manufacturer.

So, I'm looking for the following:

i) To have my camscaer recognized by ubuntu,

ii) to use it with the provided software, or

iii) to use it with some other software as long as it provides the following features:
a) to be able to recognize and crop the text from the surroundings,
b) to be able to define the dimensions of the scaing area, for example A4 or A5,
c) to be able to set time lapses for taking snapshots of the pages (for instance every 5 seconds).

Cheese provides the last option (time lapses) but none of the others.

This scaer is very essential to my work and it's a pain to have to use windows every time (that is very very frequently) I need it. I am desperate to find a way to make it work. Any help much appreciated.
