I have an Assus RT-AC68U router with a usb stick attached. I on the usb and have created a folder via the router settings which I have shared with user name and password.
I can browse to the usb: smb://horui/ where I can see the folder 'downloads'. When I double click to access the folder I am presented with a request for a password. My share user name is already entered for me along with a 'domain name' which matches my workgroup name. i am not on a domain. I must make some domain name entry and if not the 'coect' button is grayed out and I can go no further.
With the domain name set at the workgroup name, the router hostname RT-AC68U or what the router software says is the hostname, HORUI, I caot browse the folder using the set password.
I have tried each of the above domain names with the ufw firewall off. The usb was accessible from windows but can I heck see whyI can't get in from xubuntu. It appears so simple to set up that I must be missing something obvious.
I am also attempting to get assistance from the writer of the router firmware.
Any suggestions out there from linux users?
