Unencrypted HDMI Capture

Forgive me if I am doubling up on a thread already dealing with this topic. I caot find anything relevant by searching.

I have been using the trusty old Hauppauge HD PVR to capture composite video for a while now. Ubuntu is perfect for this task.

I am using PAL source equipment, and the HD PVR captures at NTSC frame-rates, so when I capture 25 FPS PAL, I get 24.975, which leads to audio sync issues. This is very frustrating, but I have some work-arounds in post-production.

My question is, are there any better analogue composite capture cards or exteal capture boxes for Ubuntu linux?

I am also interested in capturing 1080p unencrypted HDMI video from my game consoles. Is there a capture box compatible with Ubuntu that does that?
