Help with a directory scan script

Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you have a script to do the following:

I have 3 directories:
1 - box - empty
2 - work - temp
3 - scripts - contains a script to run

I need a script to monitor the "box" directory, if a new directory appears in it,
then this new directory will be moved to the "work" directory and a script from the "scripts" directory will be executed.

I saw a few solution on the net using inotify and inotifywait. it looks a very elegant solution but, unfortunately it never worked for me...
