16.04 compatibility - compaq presario c700

hi Folks

I've checked on the laptop compatibility lists and found only one entry where someone installed version 10.04 on a compaq presario c700 and in that case everything worked perfectly.

I have scored a c700 in mint condition and would like to install Ubuntu 16.04 on it.

With other laptop at work I've just gone through several issues when I did a new windows install, including incorrect drivers and missing drivers. Consequently am a bit cautious.

Supposing I dive-in and do the 16.04 install on the c700, what are likely outcomes and difficulties and can anyone see any significant problems?

I have been using Ubuntu for years but am not very clued up with problem solving.

I looked on the Compaq (HP) support website and there was no linux support at all.
