[ubuntu] 14.04 vs 16.04 32-bit system usage

I have an old IBM 32-bit laptop, which now runs Ubuntu 14.04. It's pretty slow. Realizing that 16.04 is now out, would the loading on the system be ANY less with 16.04, or more, or the same?

I've spent some time Googling the question, and nothing gives me a clear answer.
