[ubuntu] Internet Issues on Ubuntu 14.04 (& 16.04)

Hello, I recently installed Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on a 32GB USB Flash Stick, it boots up fine and works, however I want to coect to the inteet and I caot see any listed Wi-Fi hubs, I couldn't manage to set up a Wi-Fi coection, so I installed Ubuntu 14.04 on it instead but the same problem occurred, I have Windows on my Laptop too and the inteet and Wi-Fi is completely fine with it so I definitely have the hardware for wireless inteet access but Ubuntu doesn't seem to use it, It is aoying as I have to switch operating systems to use the inteet but I am fairly new to Ubuntu so any help would be greatly appreciated,
