[ubuntu] No display after initial ubuntu screen

Hi!

I've recently built a new PC with the hopes of installing Ubuntu / Linux on it.

I'm currently having an issue where after I boot from a flash drive with a valid installation of Ubuntu on, it comes up with the initial purple screen and the my display discoects as if it's not plugged in. I get no signal.

I'm currently ruing an ASUS VIII Hero motherboard with a Nvidia GTX970 .

I've tried ruing with AHCI=off and nomodset. Yet still the same issues.

I believe I'm having a display driver issue somewhere... however I maybe wrong.

I've tried multiple distro's like Arch, Mint, *ubuntu etc..

Just curious to know if anyone has any suggestions?
