Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 Appears to be a Disaster

My confidence in Ubuntu has been seriously shaken. The first thing was grub intel_idle.max_cstate, then biosdevname, now network browse fails, dns, at some point you get to tired to keep adding things to the list. Thankfully, 14.04 seems stable. Bottom-line, (IMHO) an LTS version is not the place to try a bunch of structurally new stuff, from which one caot opt out. If doing away with 'eth0' wasn't a bad idea, I don't know what is. Back in a year, hope it's ready.
