Hello guys,
I just registered myself right here, because I wasn't able to find any solution to my problem in hope for someone who may be able to solve this.
I just bought a new Lenovo Thinkpad T460 i5-6200U Skylake and installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with Keel 4.2 on it without any problems.
All drivers work out of the box, but the Sound is making a bit trouble.
Everytime I get to the unity-greeter Login screen I hear a crackling sound from the speakers and shortly after I log in successfully, right before entering my desktop, as well.
But audio playback while inside my environment (like video playback, etc.) seems just fine.
I searched for solutions, but couldn't find any working one. I updated the keel to 4.6 - no difference, I downgraded to 3.13 - crackling was gone, but nothing else worked properly (e.g. wifi).
As someone suggested online, it seems like a power saving method in the newer keels that are kind of "aggressive" and have that noise as a side-effect.
I hope someone has a solution for this, that sound is really aoying and it sounds quite unhealthy.
Edit: I just used my notebook a bit more and it's seems like even when working normally, if the sound gets used again after a while of silence you first hear a short pop (crack) sound right at the begiing. (I noticed it via volume control on the fn keys)
