16.04 on compaq d530--need help

Hi! I tried to run Lubuntu 16.04 on said desktop computer to no avail. The live version will not work. The installer will run, but it will not boot once installed. Is there any hope?

Here is the hardware:

Pentium 4 cpu 2.60 ghz
2573MB ram
Integrated graphics

Any other information will be forthcoming, if needed. Otherwise, I await suggestions on how to make this work.
