[ubuntu] Cub Linux live cd wont boot , stuck at blinkng courser [IBM R40E]

i have a IBM R40E, 756mb RAM, intel celeron 2ghz,16gb Hdd, windows XP installed
the thing is it will boot other windows cd , like windows 7 , or xp ,

im trying to install cub linux ,but when i get to the boot option i.e to try , install linux or check disc , i tried both nomodset ans acphi=off , but stuck at blinking courser and yes i m a newbee , one more thing even if i do get past the blinking , i get irq9 nobody cares errror try irqlpoll option

ive tried the disk on other pc and it works fine, and checked for **** errors but it was clean .
what should i do ? i want to keep my laptop alive [not on XPcause it is slow]
