To preface, I'm not sure if Ubuntu Mate is an "official flavor" but I can assure you that this happens on stock ubuntu of ANY version (I've tried every version from 12.4 to present) as well as Mint (both Ciamon and Mate, but that shouldn't matter).

All right, so here's the story. I use a laptop called an Avatar Mercury. It's basically a 2011-era Macbook Air clone, but with a slightly different hard drive set up (uses a standard 2.5" drive and a small embedded ssd).

In the begiing of time, I had an issue with the touchpad, but this was resolved in Ubuntu 15.04-ish. So, as you can see, this machine has had issues and waiting for updates has resolved them.

Except this one. Whenever I suspend the machine, and then awaken it, the system will abruptly shut down (just completely shut off, no shutdown process, just "click").

My machine DOES NOT do this when using Windows 7 and doing either hibeate or sleep.

Do you guys have any ideas? I've just installed a fresh copy of Ubuntu Mate on the laptop so there's no question that it has anything to do with my other software.
