wired internet stopped working

Unfortunately I’ve lost my wired inteet coection (it has no wifi coection) on my desktop Ubuntu 16.04. The frustrating part is that I’ve tested the cable with my laptop and it works fine (I’m using it to send this post) and when using a Live CD on my desktop the inteet coection also works fine. On my desktop browser (Firefox) I can still access other machines on the LAN, eg my router at 192.168.0.100, but get Server Not Found when I try to access inteet via Firefox (Thunderbird email also not working). Not sure whether it is relevant but I downloaded an update for HP printer Device Manager on the desktop before I lost the Inteet coection.

I think I’ve tried most things: reboot router and desktop, edited the ipv6 settings on network manager (from automatic to ignore and back again). So now totally stuck and grateful for any further ideas. I hope the outputs below are sufficient to give some clues and were done with the etheet cable plugged in to the desktop pc. Thank you.
