The suitable instalation on TLP

I am going to upgrade my system from 14.04 to 16.06. Actually I'm using a energy manager called TLP (that I'm sure many of you know well) and I am very happy with it. I would like to install it again. But I've read that Uos comes with laptop mode tools preinstalled, and according to this article, I wonder if I should purge this pacage before install tlp.

Apart from it, could anyone tell me if laptop mode tools do the job fine? And is it as efficient as tlp?
